Will Tennyson puts “dad strength” to the test against a group of teen bodybuilders. The setup is simple but solid. Real life strength vs gym-trained strength. Six events decide it.

Challenges included:
  • One rep max deadlift
  • Punch strength machine
  • Bench press max
  • Farmer’s carry relay
  • Push-up endurance
  • Tug of war finale
Deadlift kicks things off. One of the dads pulls 495 lbs after working a full day in construction. The teen matches but struggles at the top end. Dads show serious raw power here, but teens take the point by edging the final lift.

Punch machine is all teens. Faster, more explosive. They rack up higher scores early and hold the lead.

Bench press goes to the teens too. One hits a 285 lb PR. The dad misses at that weight. This is where gym-specific training shows.

Farmer’s carry flips momentum again. As weight increases, teens move faster and handle fatigue better. Another win for the younger group.

Push-ups go the other way. Over 100 reps deep, dads grind it out and win on endurance and toughness. This is where experience shows up.

Final event is tug of war. Dads have more body weight, but teens stay in sync and take it with better timing and coordination.

Final score: Teens win 4 to 2

What stands out:
  • Dads have real world strength, grip, endurance, mental toughness
  • Teens dominate explosive power, recovery, and gym performance
  • Strength is specific to how you train
If you lift, this video hits the point clearly. Age does not decide strength. Training style does.

Hey, this is an interesting concept. Will Tennyson does a good job of keeping it simple while still making the comparison meaningful. It highlights how different types of training translate into different kinds of strength across those events.

This is ridiculous 🤣 teens got upper hand most of the time even in sports.
