Has anyone actually looked at any BBing mag???

If you can actually read one in a public place with the page open so that those around you can see the photos in them of guys posing while working out in a thong without thinking "I wonder if people think I'm gay because I'm looking at semi-naked muscle men" then you must walk around surrounded by buxom beauties who shag your brains out all day long.

BBing mags have always and will always cater to gay clientelle. I'm sure that Joe Weider also published some openly gay mags, but a lot of the physique mags were considered just that, really gay.

bodybuilding in-and-of-itself if viewed by an outside source does have a lot of characteristics that can easily be viewed/twisted to be gay if someone so wants to. the most glaring fact in that you have to oil and tan yourself up and usually need the help of other guys to do so. i'm not gonna lie, if you put it the way i just did, it sounds pretty damn gay. but if you want to look at bodybuilding that way then:

A. GTFO of this site and any other site bodybuilding related and go join a gay forum

B. stay the hell away from bodybuilders. i'm sure some are gay (as in any sport), but if you want to go to a bber and tell him how gay his sport is, i would love to be present while he knocks you senseless. if you're a gay guy and want to go to a show to admire the bodies, whatever, just keep it to yourself.

the sport is not gay. sure there are gays in it, but there are gays in any sport. they do this because they love it and because it's a damn hard thing to be good at. if you want to be an asshole and put a gay spin on it, i invite you to man up and say it to a bodybuilders face :gaysign:

You've missed my point completely. Although you did add one that I intended to make. The lay public can easily misconstrue the sport of BBing and everyone in it as gay.

My point was that the marketing and media surrounding BBing has always and will always be overtly or at least hinting at homoerotica. Take a good look at any of the mags for the past 50 years and it is pretty clear that this is the case. There is nothing wrong with this aspect, there is nothing wrong with gay people, but this is a sub-culture that the broader public has little to no understanding of. As a result we will be tarred with the same brush.

Oh and excuse me all to hell if I like a sport but am aware of its foibles. :shakefist:

forgive me, but i don't see the subliminal homoerotica. maybe i'm just not looking at it from the point of view of a gay, but i see a mag and i see bodybuilders and physiques. you very rarely see that spandex gay looking stuff anymore. if you want to look at it from a gay perspective and get off to it, that's your problem (i'm not saying you do that). shit, if you wanted to you could get off to a womans' fitness mag, it doesn't mean it's soft core porn or that it's subliminally trying to get people off.

the point of my post was, look at it however you want, i nor anyone else has any control over that. but if you are going to insinuate that bodybuilders are gay or that what we do is gay (i'm not saying you said that), than get lost.

Even if its true, who cares? Why does publishing gay porn make someone a bad person?

Everybody knows that Weider is just in it for the money anyway.

of the sports that i have enjoyed and participated in everything has been labelled gay

Rugby= "in rucks ,you have man piles with other men, rugbys gay"
Tennis= " You play tennis, thats soft wheres the contact like in rugby, tennis is gay"
Soccer= "Soccer is so gay, look at the dive he just took, what a punce, soccer is gay."
Bum sex with other men= "lol"
Bodybuilding= "You wax hair off your body and stand next to men in their underwear ? Bodybuildings gay"

After watching the super bowl the other day Im pretty sure Nfl is gay and dont get me started on how unstraight AFL is.

In summary, I guess every sport is gay. Also, we should not worry about Gay magazines and who publishes them. Weider was obviously one of the few sports minded people(gay) willing to take his prerequisites of supporting sport(gay) with gay qualities to get some coin off of pure gay material. What a man.

:soapbox:

p.s people that are really gay dont deserve us alienating them by using gay as a derogatory word.

waterpolo and bodybuilding are almost identical, both physique are liked by the faggots and apart from muscle size, thats about the only difference for the body.

the other difference is one you have 15+ guys all in one pool, doing stuff under water which we cant see clearly and occasionally someone gets dragged under water (are you thinking what i`m thinking?)
the other we have around 1>15 bodybuilders on a stage, everythings out in the open, and they flex, you can flex the gay way (king kamali anyone?) and you can do it less gay,

basketball/football/rugby/soccer/ and sports similar to those you have sweat guys rubbing against each other, using their ass to move the opponent away and sometimes you get a face full of balls (especially rugby).
bber is easy to call gay, no arguement there, but when you exam them all, if i was going to be gay, i` go do rugby or something and just start jumping on guys.

the other sports which are non-contact and "easy" are called gay because its just a bunch of sissy stuff,
chess is the least gay sport but then you cross over from the world of gay to the one of nerdy, either way there are no woman.

bottomline > get fat

^^ In what way did you do anything other than insinuate that all sports have men in them and some of those men may be gay.

BBing has deliberately marketed itself to its gay audience since its inception in physique magazines back in the 50's. If it has deliberately cultivated its image around and for this gay audience then that is completely different from aspects of a sporting contest that require physical contact. Hell I reckon all business men must be gay because they shake hands!!!

Yes there is an aspect of the intent being a matter of interpretation. But go and read the psychology stuff that has been done on BBing and other subcultures. Have a look at the history of this stuff. I'm not saying you have to be gay to like BBing, but BBing has marketed itself to the gay population shamelessly.
