Some directors just nail soundtracks. Tarantino, for instance, generally puts out films with great musical accompaniment. Wes Anderson too. As far as scores go though, my most recent favorite is probably Days of Heaven, which was also done by Ennio Morricone (The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly)
