335kg squat, 250kg bench, 302kg deadlift, 888kg total. Awesome numbers mate, all equipped I'm guessing? I'm still of two minds on whether I want to compete equipped, I'm sure I will in the end once I feel I've peaked as far as raw strength goes but I think for the next few years I'll be sticking to raw.

I did Smolov in its original form, it is intense and brutal on your back but it added 40kg to my squat in 13 weeks so it was all worth it. I'm going to do it again one of these days, for shits and giggles. :p

I was tossing up between Westside and Sheiko for 2009 and I went WSB in the end because the epic training time needed for Sheiko. I'd still like to try it someday though, when I've got more time to spare.

Freako <- im not sure i agree with you on you assumptions about sheiko. One can do a sheiko routine with 3 days of training a week and the sessions will be around 2 hours each time, especially if you stay raw. I use the same time and sometimes more doing WSB.

What goes for my own lifts, they are of cause all equipped lifts. If i had a close to 900 kg total raw, i would be one of the best raw lifters in the world. Breaking the 900 kg barrier equipped this year, is one of my goals.

Everything I have read about Sheiko suggests 2-2.5hr sessions, that is what I meant. I've just started Westside but I'm able to keep them to around 1-1.5hrs so far.

Sorry, I wasn't meaning to sound critical of your use of equipment. I was just trying to explain my indecision on using it. I will eventually train and compete equipped I'm sure, but I think I will want to spend a few years proving myself as a raw competitor first (even though I am having trouble finding raw comps in Australia).

Anyway, I look forward to following your log mate. :linedrunk:

Edit: Pinky grip? Please explain...

I didnt think you were critical, so no hard feelings :xyxthumbs:

It is a very good thing to build basic strenth and stay raw for sometime. Looking at your numbers, you basic strength is pretty good, but if you want to keep on going raw, thumbs up for that. One has to be strong raw to be strong in equipment, there is no way around it.

It does take some time to develop the technique in equipment. Especially in the squat. Training a little with the kneewraps and belt, and kneewraps no belt would probably be a good idea for you to get your technique training started and learn how to sit back, also the extra kilo's will give you some more load in the core which can be usefull for the raw lifts as well.

Pinky grip bench is just that i change my grip to put my pinky finger on the ring instead of the index/competition grip. Benching with different grip with is important, especially if you do a lot of bench volume work.

Thanks Mr.

Well nothing special, maybe i shouldnt have made it a heading. It is just a few back off sets doing regular squats after i have done the max effort squat series. I do this to make sure i accumulate enough volume in the squat. An alternative could be to pick a secondary pressing exercise.
