Blessing Awodibu Biography

Blessing Awodibu was born on September 20, 1991. His way to fame hasn't always been a smooth one. Although he spent a major part of his life in Ireland, he spent a part of his childhood in Nigeria.

Growing up, Blessing had a hard life. When he was younger, he had to take up difficult tasks like breaking palm kernels with his feet and walking long distances to fetch water.

He admitted that the experience he had in Nigeria made him strong to bear all the hardships that came his way when he left the country. Also, he said that the comments his mother said to him were what motivated him to be the best he can be in Ireland.

His mother had told him to go and be successful so he could return and bring her out of poverty. Although when he left Nigeria, it wasn't in his plan to become a bodybuilder. His mother had wanted him to be a doctor, lawyer, nurse or pilot. He worked extra hard in his academics so that he could fulfil the dream his mother had for him.

However, the harsh realities of life hit him while in Ireland and he had to stop his education because he was broke. He didn't want to go back broke so he started looking for alternatives.

Upon his arrival in Ireland, Blessing was just a small, skinny African boy who got bullied for how he looked. That was his inspiration to start hitting the gym so he has been working out since he was age 14.

When he started bodybuilding, it wasn't because he thought of it as his career, but because he wanted to protect himself from bullies. However, he was able to use his inability to get into college to his advantage. He dedicated more time to bodybuilding because he thought of it as his calling.

When asked how he became a bodybuilder, he said he has always been a fan of WWE, and he always wanted to be like The Rock. Along the line, he discovered Arnold Schwarzenegger.

He later stumbled on Arnold's documentary pumping iron and it was from that moment that he knew exactly what he wanted to become. He looked up to both The Rock and Arnold Schwarzenegger as his idols and they were his biggest motivation.

Recently, 2021 to be precise, was a rough year for him. He suffered from depression after he challenged his colleague Nick Walker openly that he was going to perform better than him in the 2021 New York Pro. However, he wasn't able to stay true to his words as he placed 6th in that year's competition and Nick placed 1st.

This caused him to go into depression after getting lots of trolls and backlash from the public. However, he was able to bounce back by winning the 2022 Indy Pro which qualified him to participate in the upcoming 2022 Mr Olympia.

Blessing Awodibu Nutrition

According to Blessing, he believes that it's not how much you exercise that determines how big you get, instead, he says what works for him is food.

Although he pointed out that most people may not be able to afford the type of food he eats because they're expensive. Blessing said it was so he could get sponsors for his feeding and supplements that he delved into social media.

Blessing eats at least 7 meals a day and his menu includes lean proteins and complex carbs. He also eats tuna duck, eggs, lean beef and oats. Then he drinks enough water so that he can stay hydrated and active.

In between his meals, Blessing still finds a way to sneak 'cheat meals' into his nutrition routine. Sometimes he lets himself bask in the sweet taste and flavour of some Chinese cuisine at least once a week.
