CAPITAL GAINS TAX

MCCAIN
0% on home sales up to $500,000 per home (couples). McCain does not propose any change in existing home sales income tax.

OBAMA
28% on profit from ALL home sales. (How does this affect you? If you sell your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain on taxes. If you are heading toward retirement and would like to down-size your home or move into a retirement community, 28% of the money you make from your home will go to taxes. This proposal will adversely affect the elderly who are counting on the income from their homes as part of their retirement income.)

DIVIDEND TAX

MCCAIN
15% (no change)

OBAMA
39.6% - (How will this affect you? If you have any money invested in stock market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will now be paying nearly 40% of the money earned on taxes if Obama becomes president. The experts predict that 'Higher tax rates on dividends and capital gains would crash the stock market, yet do absolutely nothing to cut the deficit.')

INCOME TAX

MCCAIN
(no changes)
Single making 30K - tax $4,500
Single making 50K - tax $12,500
Single making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 60K- tax $9,000
Married making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 125K - tax $31,250

OBAMA (reversion to pre-Bush tax cuts)
Single making 30K - tax $8,400
Single making 50K - tax $14,000
Single making 75K - tax $23,250
Married making 60K - tax $16,800
Married making 75K - tax $21,000
Married making 125K - tax $38,750
Under Obama, your taxes could almost double!

INHERITANCE TAX

MCCAIN
- 0% (No change, Bush repealed this tax)

OBAMA
Restore the inheritance tax
Many families have lost businesses, farms, ranches, and homes that have been in their families for generations because they could not afford the inheritance tax. Those willing their assets to loved ones will only lose them to these taxes.

NEW TAXES PROPOSED BY OBAMA

New government taxes proposed on homes that are more than 2400 square feet. New gasoline taxes (as if gas weren't high enough already) New taxes on natural resources consumption (heating gas, water, electricity) New taxes on retirement accounts, and last but not least....New taxes to pay for socialized medicine so we can receive the same level of medical care as other third-world countries!!!

I agree

I also think this is a little biased. Like I mentioned in another thread we will never know what will truly happen once their in the presidency until you guessed it once their in.

So I take it all anyone can bring up is the fact that McCain supports the war in Iraq? Not good enough seeing as we will have to be out of there in a few years anyways, so lets try to come up with something else. Also, that pic below is disrespectful and should not be posted. If you Dems don't like the war in Iraq, then blame the Democrats and the Truman Doctrine that created this foreign policy of ours. Lets not forget they got us into the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the started the Nuclear Arms race of the Cold War.

We can point fingers all we want but what we should look at is what we can tell so far between the candidates. Right now a good gauge is their picks in their VPs. On a scale of 0-100 with 100 being as liberal as you can be Obama was ranked a 93, and he chose a running mate who was ranked an 87. We are getting two of the most liberal Senators in the Senate which you can tell by the HUGE tax hikes listed below.
McCain is blasted by Dems saying he is just like another Bush when they have disagreed more than they have ever agreed. To say he votes with Bush almost 90% of the time is humerus seeing as 90% of the time the Senate votes almost unanimously so that would include Obama who in his half term has skipped several votes or chose not to vote. He picked a running mate who is anti-corruption and a true fiscal conservative (just look at her track record, it is quite impressive)
If I had to pick between the two (which I guess I have to) I will definitely pick McCain/Palin over Obama/Biden. McCain cannot continue the war in Iraq for much longer and I do not see him doing anything different with Iran other than what the rest of the world and the UN are doing right now, so to use that as a reason is pretty moot.

You honestly believe this? :uhoh2: America is still in 130 countries around the world. I put as much credibility in this withdraw effort as I put in the name "operation Iraqi Freedom", or those who said Iraq would be a short cake walk (which McCain was leading the charge for.)

also, that pic below is disrespectful and should not be posted.

Why not?

If you Dems don't like the war in Iraq, then blame the Democrats and the Truman Doctrine that created this foreign policy of ours. Lets not forget they got us into the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the started the Nuclear Arms race of the Cold War.

This is why I hate the continual Republican vs. Democrat, black and white portrayal. Both sides suck, when you get puppets from either side as the choice, there's no real difference.

We can point fingers all we want but what we should look at is what we can tell so far between the candidates. Right now a good gauge is their picks in their VPs. On a scale of 0-100 with 100 being as liberal as you can be Obama was ranked a 93, and he chose a running mate who was ranked an 87. Agreed

Again, doesn't matter. Republicans and Democrats are siblings in the same family. McCain IS another Bush, there's no doubt about that. Obama will be more socialist, and maybe a tad less aggressive with wars. But, both are basically the same.

As for Palin... who cares? Unless you're an extremely powerful person like Dick Cheney, (Which Palin is not) the Vice President doesn't do much. She does seem like a decent person, but it doesn't matter.

No, you don't have to. You don't need to be a slave to the two party system. Is pretty much everyone else? Yes, but so what?

Fuck the UN... that is all.

True but that is hardly Bush's or McCain's fault. It is a result of The Policy of Containment, The Truman Doctrine, The Marshall Plan (for the foreign aid to "Democratic countries" and their leaders.. but we have seen how well that panned out), and the NSC-68. All these are pretty much still in effect and the only candidate who would have changed it was Ron Paul (as you know) but neither Obama or McCain will so we have to look at their other policies because our foreign policy will not change much with either.

I see what your saying, but we will end up with either one no matter if I vote for Ron Paul. So after weighing the two evils I can have a preference and I chose McCain. I won't vote for him, but I would prefer him over Obama... even though I would prefer neither.

I wish Ron Paul would run as an independent :tear:

That's fine Braaq. I prefer Obama over McCain, but I also prefer neither.

Only one reason really, he's less aggressive when it comes to wars in the middle east and elsewhere. I for one know that we absolutely can not afford any other wars with other countries.

Agreed. War is by far and away my number 1 issue, and I think Obama will be less aggressive on that. Loss of innocent life is more important than any loss of money.
