Athletes who became politicians

Mecca V.I.P.

Manny Pacquia is one athlete who became popular internationally thus giving him the armament to join politics. Presently Pacquiao is a senator of the Philippines and his previous position was a congressman of his district. Actors and actresses are known to join politics but athletes are not that common. In the US, Ronald Reagan became president and Shirley Temple, the former child star became senator. But is there an American athlete who became successful in US politics? Maybe Arnold Schwarzenegger can be considered an athlete since he was into bodybuilding before he became an actor but I'd say that his success in politics was due to his popularity in the movies.
