Bellator 222 – Lyoto Machida vs Chael Sonnen

Both UFC veterans, former light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida will square off with Chael Sonnen as the co-main event of Bellator 22 (main event is the MacDonald-Gracie bout). Machida has an MMA fight record of 25-8 while Sonnen has 30-16-1 for his scorecard. Since it is a bout of veterans, the fight is expected to be short with either side capable of a stoppage.

The karate guy won over the bad guy. Both fighters are more than 40 but they still showed their strength and power in the octagon. But Lyoto Machida proved his dominance with his quick attacks in the first round. A flying knee that hit Sonnen in the 2nd round was the start of the end with the ensuing ground and pound caused a stoppage. Sonnen declared his retirement from MMA fights.
