ИГОРЬ ИВАНОВ — ЧЕМПИОН РСФСР
В предыдущем номере мы опубликовали фоторепортаж о соревнованиях по атлетической гимнастике, состоявшихся в областном центре — в гости к астраханцам приехали опытные мастера из Луги.
Многие читатели недоумевали, спрашивали: почему в составе нашей команды отсутствовал победитель прошлогоднего «атлетического шоу», кандидат в мастера спорта Игорь Иванов? Интервью с ним было напечатано 4 декабря — «Культуризм не вреден» и вызвало много читательских откликов.
Спешим обрадовать поклонников Игоря: с ним ничего не случилось, он в хорошей спортивной форме, подтверждение тому — победа в молодежном чемпионате РСФСР, который состоялся в Орджоникидзе — в те же дни, что и матчевые встречи в Новгороде. Так что причина у вчерашнего юниора была вполне уважительная.
Почему «вчерашнего»? Игорю исполнилось 23 года, и теперь ему придется участвовать в соревнованиях мужчин.
Первый старт — 20–21 мая в Астрахани, где состоится чемпионат республики. Правда, перед этим наш атлет попробует свои силы в престижных соревнованиях, которые пройдут 12–14 мая в Смоленске — здесь на берегах Днепра соберутся сильнейшие атлеты из городов-героев. Турнир будет посвящен празднику Победы.
Как проходили соревнования в столице Северной Осетии? Спор за победу в весовой категории до 80 килограммов, в которой выступал Игорь Иванов, вели 14 атлетов из тринадцати областей. Ему не было равных, особенно в технике исполнения. Средняя оценка — 8,5 балла — оказалась недосягаемой для соперников.
Что ожидает Игоря впереди? Кроме соревнований в Смоленске и Астрахани, чемпионат в Сибири. Он пройдет в июне в Красноярске — сильнейшие атлеты страны поведут борьбу за почетный Енисейский приз.

IGOR IVANOV — CHAMPION OF THE RSFSR
In the previous issue we published a photo report about competitions in athletic gymnastics held in the regional center, where experienced masters from Luga came to visit the Astrakhan athletes.
Many readers were puzzled and asked why the winner of last year’s “athletic show,” Candidate for Master of Sports Igor Ivanov, was absent from our team. An interview with him was published on December 4 under the title “Bodybuilding Is Not Harmful,” and it received many responses from readers.
We hasten to reassure Igor’s fans: nothing has happened to him, he is in excellent athletic form. The proof is his victory in the Youth Championship of the RSFSR, which took place in Ordzhonikidze at the same time as the team matches in Novgorod. Thus, the reason for the absence of yesterday’s junior athlete was quite valid.
Why “yesterday’s”? Igor has turned 23, and now he must compete in men’s competitions.
His first start will be on May 20–21 in Astrakhan, where the republic championship will take place. Before that, however, our athlete will test his strength in prestigious competitions to be held on May 12–14 in Smolensk. Here, on the banks of the Dnieper, the strongest athletes from the Hero Cities will gather. The tournament will be dedicated to the Victory Day holiday celebrating victory in World War II.
How did the competitions proceed in the capital of North Ossetia? Fourteen athletes from thirteen regions competed for victory in the weight category up to 80 kilograms, in which Igor Ivanov performed. He had no equal, especially in the technique of execution. His average score — 8.5 points — proved unattainable for his rivals.
What awaits Igor ahead? In addition to the competitions in Smolensk and Astrakhan, there will be a championship in Siberia. It will take place in June in Krasnoyarsk, where the strongest athletes of the country will compete for the honorary Yenisei Prize.

En el número anterior publicamos un reportaje fotográfico sobre las competiciones de gimnasia atlética celebradas en el centro regional, donde experimentados maestros de Luga visitaron a los atletas de Astracán.
Muchos lectores se preguntaban por qué en la composición de nuestro equipo no estaba el ganador del “show atlético” del año pasado, candidato a maestro del deporte Igor Ivanov. Una entrevista con él fue publicada el 4 de diciembre bajo el título «El culturismo no es perjudicial» y provocó numerosas respuestas de los lectores.
Nos apresuramos a tranquilizar a los seguidores de Igor: no le ha ocurrido nada, se encuentra en excelente forma deportiva. Prueba de ello es su victoria en el campeonato juvenil de la RSFSR celebrado en Ordzhonikidze, en los mismos días en que tuvieron lugar los encuentros por equipos en Novgorod. Así pues, la ausencia del que ayer era aún un júnior tenía una razón totalmente justificada.
¿Por qué “de ayer”? Igor ha cumplido 23 años y ahora deberá participar en competiciones de la categoría masculina.
Su primera salida será los días 20–21 de mayo en Astracán, donde se celebrará el campeonato de la república. Antes de eso, nuestro atleta probará sus fuerzas en prestigiosas competiciones que se celebrarán del 12 al 14 de mayo en Smolensk. Allí, a orillas del Dniéper, se reunirán los atletas más fuertes de las ciudades heroicas. El torneo estará dedicado a la fiesta del Día de la Victoria en la Segunda Guerra Mundial.
¿Cómo transcurrieron las competiciones en la capital de Osetia del Norte? Catorce atletas de trece regiones lucharon por la victoria en la categoría de peso hasta 80 kilogramos, en la que competía Igor Ivanov. No tuvo rivales, especialmente en la técnica de ejecución. ¿Qué le espera a Igor en el futuro? Además de las competiciones en Smolensk y Astracán, se celebrará un campeonato en Siberia. Tendrá lugar en junio en Krasnoyarsk, donde los atletas más fuertes del país competirán por el prestigioso Premio Yeniséi.

Our contest. Today the men are in the arena. In the upper photograph are athletes of the weight category up to 90 kg; in the lower one — up to 80 kg. As if cast from the antique. Abdominal muscles, chest muscles, powerful arms... Some people still criticize bodybuilding from time to time. They say: why is this necessary? They say: it is no longer the age of antiquity. They say: today other qualities are needed. You know, we like it. And what about you?

Международный турнир по атлетизму на призы газеты «Советский спорт»
Итак, вот они, герои нашего турнира — победители в своих категориях, те, кто удостоился права оспаривать абсолютное первенство.
До 65 кг. Вячеслав Хлебородов (называем атлетов в том порядке, как они стоят слева направо). Живет в Вильнюсе. Оказался единственным в этой весовой категории, что и облегчило ему путь к успеху.
До 70 кг. Красавец американец Лорен Гил, 30 лет. По профессии металлург. Тренируется пять раз в неделю. Надеется выступить вне конкурса на чемпионате Европы-90, который пройдет в Ленинграде в конце апреля.
До 80 кг. Александр Иванюк из Тольятти. Он блистательно утверждает тезис о том, что культуризму все возрасты покорны. Атлету 38 лет, он преподаватель физкультурно-оздоровительной школы.
Свыше 90 кг. Ахим-Альбрехт Меннер, 27-летний гигант из ФРГ. Весит 113 килограммов. Культуризмом занимается всего лишь три года, однако ни одному участнику не аплодировали больше, чем ему.
До 90 кг. Франк Хиллебрандт из ФРГ. Он, пожалуй, самый титулованный участник нашего турнира. Победитель чемпионата мира, который в начале ноября завершился в Париже. Ему 25 лет. Объем груди 135 см, бицепса — 50 см, талии — 76. Он выжимает лежа 215 кг и приседает с 300-килограммовой штангой на плечах.
И Хиллебрандт, и Меннер тренируются у одного тренера — Вальтера Клока. Что же касается победы и чека на три тысячи долларов, то они по достоинству достались именитому уже Хиллебрандту. Авторитет — великая вещь.
International Bodybuilding Tournament for the Prizes of the Newspaper “Soviet Sport”
So here they are — the heroes of our tournament, the winners in their categories, those who earned the right to challenge for the overall title.
Up to 65 kg. Vyacheslav Khleborodov (we name the athletes in the order they stand from left to right). He lives in Vilnius. He turned out to be the only competitor in this weight category, which made his path to victory easier.
Up to 70 kg. The impressive American, Loren Gill, 30 years old. By profession he is a metallurgist. He trains five times a week. He hopes to compete outside the official standings at the 1990 European Championship, which will take place in Leningrad at the end of April.
Up to 80 kg. Alexander Ivanyuk from Tolyatti. He brilliantly confirms the thesis that bodybuilding is open to all ages. The athlete is 38 years old and works as an instructor at a physical fitness and health school.
Over 90 kg. Achim-Albrecht Menner, a 27-year-old giant from the Federal Republic of Germany. He weighs 113 kilograms. He has been involved in bodybuilding for only three years, yet no other participant received more applause than he did.
Up to 90 kg. Frank Hillebrandt from the Federal Republic of Germany. He is perhaps the most decorated participant in our tournament. He is the winner of the World Championship that concluded in Paris at the beginning of November. He is 25 years old. Chest measurement — 135 cm, biceps — 50 cm, waist — 76 cm. He bench-presses 215 kg and squats with a 300-kilogram barbell on his shoulders.
Both Hillebrandt and Menner train with the same coach — Walter Klock. As for the victory and the check for three thousand dollars, they rightfully went to the already renowned Hillebrandt. Authority is a great thing.

Aquí están los héroes de nuestro torneo: los ganadores en sus categorías, quienes obtuvieron el derecho de disputar el título absoluto.
Hasta 65 kg. Viacheslav Jleboródov (nombramos a los atletas en el orden en que están de izquierda a derecha). Vive en Vilna. Resultó ser el único participante en esta categoría de peso, lo que facilitó su camino hacia la victoria.

Hace press de banca con 215 kg y realiza sentadillas con una barra de 300 kg sobre los hombros.
Tanto Hillebrandt como Menner entrenan con el mismo entrenador: Walter Klock. En cuanto a la victoria y al cheque de tres mil dólares, fueron merecidamente para el ya famoso Hillebrandt. La autoridad es algo muy importante.
