Chris Cormier is likely one of the best bodybuilders you've never heard of Chris Cormier, as he's known on stage, was born May 8th, 1970 in New Orleans , Louisiana . Chris' father Chris Sr. and mother Carol were both heavily involved with sports – Chris played college football at Nicholls State University and his mother Carol was a star athlete at Louisiana State University .
After losing to Ronnie Coleman and Flex Wheeler at the 1998 Arnold Classic Chris decided to retire. Though there were many rumors that he would come back over the next few years Chris remained retired until 2007 when he competed at Iron Man Pro for what would end up being his final contest. As an amateur Chris placed 2nd at the 1992 Teenage Nationals, 1st at the 1994 Team Universe, 1st at the 1995 Team Universe (where he won overall), 2nd at the 1996 North American Championships and 3rd in 1997. Chris made history in 1995 when he became only the second man ever to win both the overall and heavyweight class at Team Universe. Chris is also a bodybuilding icon for his truly incredible back development which has had fans talking since Chris burst onto the scene in 1993.
Chris began working out while attending college, but after graduating Chris embarked on what was supposed to be a career as an advertising executive. However, Chris' passion for training quickly eclipsed any excitement Chris found in advertising so Chris decided to pursue his dream of becoming a professional bodybuilder. Chris was on top of the bodybuilding world from 1993 until he retired in 1998 and Chris' fans were thrilled when Chris decided to come out of retirement in 2007 after a 7 year hiatus. A return at Iron Man Pro ended Chris' comeback however as Chris lost all three rounds of contest and officially retired from competitive bodybuilding for good.
Chris is married with two children – Christian and Christine – and makes his home in Orlando , Florida . Chris has appeared on over 20 magazine covers including FLEX, Muscle & Fitness, Musclemag International, Muscular Development and most famously Muscle & Fitness's 'Book Of Mr. Olympia's Training Secrets'. Chris has also guest posed for countless websites.
