Did Samson Dauda Have the Better Physique at the 2026 Mr. Olympia?

The Men's Open competition at the 2026 Mr. Olympia was one of the closest and most exciting in recent years, with Nick Walker finally winning his first Mr. Olympia title; however, Samson Dauda made the outcome much more complicated than the final results indicate.

Walker came out on top with 18 points, Dauda came second with 20, and Derek Lunsford took third place with 24 points. The two-point gap between Walker and Dauda is especially important since it demonstrates just how competitive the contest was.

The major surprise occurred when the competition was divided into its two scoring phases. Walker had control over the preliminary judging, while Dauda put on a dramatic performance in the final round and actually won the Saturday night event. Dauda's score in the final was 5, whereas Walker's was 10, but Walker's lead in the earlier stage was sufficient to ensure that he won the overall contest.

Then did Samson Dauda really have the better physique?

It all comes down to what you understand by 'better'.

Should you be evaluating the entire competition package over both days, Nick Walker should be awarded the Sandow; but if, on the other hand, you are looking at the individual poses, the structural aspects and the physiques displayed on Saturday night, then Dauda has a very strong case.

What took place at the 2026 Mr. Olympia?

The Mr. Olympia in 2026 was held in Las Vegas, and Nick Walker was the winner of the Men's Open title.

Having finished in sixth place at the 2025 Olympia, Walker entered the contest and completely altered the narrative concerning his career. The package he put together in 2026 was considerably more complete, blending his usual muscularity and hardness with better midsection control and presentation.

Samson Dauda took part as the 2024 Mr. Olympia winner with the aim of winning the title again after having come fourth in 2025; his plan was to restore the great amount of size which had made him so formidable together with improving the conditioning that had before limited him.

However, when the judges were deciding the outcome, Walker had the advantage since the official scorecard awarded him 8 points, 15 to Dauda and 9 to Lunsford, which put him in first place as they entered the finals.

All of that happened on Saturday.

Dauda was noticeably sharper and more vigorous, and he made the finals a real challenge for the championship.

Samson Dauda's Biggest Advantage: Structure and Size

The main asset of Dauda has always been his combination of height and build.

Dauda, who is about 5'11", is tall enough to have a great deal of muscle without looking bulky. He has wide shoulders, a waist that is still fairly narrow compared to his total height, and legs that give him the lower-body weight needed to balance his upper body.

This balance was particularly apparent in the 2026 finals.

Dauda's body gives him a classic bodybuilding look from the front. His shoulders stick out far past his waist. His quads and chest have enough size to make his whole body look balanced.

That is the point at which Dauda is better off than Walker.

Walker is extremely muscular, but his physical build is based on density, thickness, and an unusual characteristic. Dauda's physique has more visual flow.

The fact that Dauda has it does not mean that he is better, but it does account for the reason why many fans prefer his physique when the two are compared.

Nick Walker's Biggest Advantage: Density and Conditioning

Although Dauda has the advantage in terms of structure, Walker's main assets are density, hardness, and conditioning.

Nick Walker's physical build is easily identifiable; he has very large arms, extremely well-developed legs, and a high muscle density which gives him a three-dimensional look that very few athletes are able to achieve.

At Olympia in 2026, Walker also showed better control using his waist and midsection.

That improvement mattered.

Walker had no need to turn into an aesthetic bodybuilder in order to win; instead, he made better use of his current physique. The tighter waist, his improved appearance, and outstanding level of conditioning enabled his muscularity to be noticeable without entirely dominating his proportions.

The prejudging analysis carried out by Fitness Volt pointed out that Walker kept a tight waist together with having very hard and detailed musculature.

That consistency was, in the end, one of the main reasons for his victory.

The Front Double Biceps

The front double biceps pose is one of the best for comparing Dauda and Walker since it shows the differences in their strengths.

In his version, the focus is on the shape, the width of the shoulders, the size of the arms, and the sweep of the quadriceps. The shape of his frame gives a broad outline, and the waist-to-shoulder ratio makes the pose very impressive.

Walker brings something different.

The power of the pose is due to his arms and the fact that he has a high muscle density. The condition of his muscles also makes them more separated and gives them greater visual detail.

It was interesting how different the comparison was between Friday and Saturday in Tyler Manion's analysis after the Olympics.

On Friday, Manion handed the front double biceps to Walker, and on Saturday he gave it to Dauda.

It shows how crucial conditioning and the way things were presented were to the final result.

The Front Lat Spread

Dauda also advanced a strong case in relation to the front lat spread.

The wide shoulders and slimness of Dauda give him a strong visual presence; although his torso looks broad, his waist is kept in check.

Walker has great lat width. His physique is more compact.

On Saturday, Manion gave Dauda the front lat spread, and this is significant since the pose enabled Dauda's structure and general proportions to become major advantages.

If you place a strong emphasis on shape and proportion when defining the ideal physique, then Dauda has a very good argument in this case.

The Side Chest

The side chest could have been one of Dauda's most impressive comparisons.

The boy has great development in his chest, shoulders, and legs, and the pose enables him to show off all three at the same time.

The development of his side leg was especially important.

At the Saturday finals, Manion gave the side chest to Dauda, pointing out that Dauda's development of his shoulders, arms, and side legs was very similar to Walker's.

Walker still appeared extremely dangerous from the side due to his thick build and physical condition, but Dauda's mix of size and shape gave him the advantage in this situation.

The Back Poses

It is at this point that the argument turns in favor of Walker.

Dauda has an extremely impressive back, especially when one takes into account the total amount of weight he has. The width is given by the spread of his rear latissimus dorsi, and there is a good deal of thickness in his rear double biceps.

One of Walker's principal strengths at the 2026 Olympia was his back presentation.

On Saturday, Manion gave Walker the back double biceps and the rear lat spread against Dauda and also gave him the side triceps.

This is significant since it shows that Dauda did not fail merely due to one general judging preference.

Walker had valid advantages with regard to his posture.

The effectiveness of his conditioning and muscular definition was particularly clear when seen from behind, even though Dauda's more substantial build could not fully match Walker's hardness.

The Most Muscular

Another major turning point was the most muscular pose.

Dauda's huge chest, shoulders, arms, and legs make this pose one of the best ways to show off his build.

Although Walker has extraordinary muscularity, Dauda is superior in terms of overall balance when the whole of his physique is expressed in a single pose.

In the end, Manion gave the prize for the most muscular to Dauda, saying that the two were extremely close. His choice was based on Dauda's combination of size, balance, and general presentation.

This might be the best illustration of the reason why fans had a reasonable belief that Dauda looked better on Saturday even though Walker won the Olympia.

Conditioning Was the Difference

Conditioning is still the main point in favor of Walker.

When it came to prejudging, Dauda was not quite as sharp as Walker; although his size could be seen, certain finer details and distinctions were lacking.

At the same time, Walker provided the more thorough and complete package right from the start.

This gave him a big advantage since the act of prejudging was included in the final score.

By Saturday, Dauda had sorted out most of that problem.

The way he performed in the final was much sharper, and he was able to display greater separation and detail without losing his huge size; this improvement enabled him to win the final with a score of 5 as against Walker's 10.

Dauda was unfortunate in that the improvement occurred after Walker had already established his lead.

The Scorecard Explains Everything

The final scorecard provides the most clear-cut answer to the debate.

AthletePrejudgingFinalsTotalPlace
Nick Walker810181st
Samson Dauda155202nd
Derek Lunsford915243rd

Lower scores are better.

Walker won in the prejudging, and Dauda won in the finals.

It means that the contest had two different winners depending on which part you watched.

Walker was the more consistent of the athletes throughout the whole competition.

On Saturday night, Dauda was the stronger of the two athletes.

Since the Olympia title is determined by the total score, Walker was entitled to the title.

So, Did Samson Dauda Have the Better Physique?

It's at this point that the answer becomes a matter of personal opinion.

If someone asks who deserved to win the 2026 Mr. Olympia, then the answer is Nick Walker.

He ended up with the lowest total score, scoring 18 compared to Dauda's 20, and thus won his first Sandow; he also picked up the People's Champion award.

Yet if the question is 'Could someone plausibly prefer Samson Dauda's physique to Nick Walker's?', the answer is definitely yes.

Dauda has advantages in structure, shape, taper, and overall visual balance. His chest, shoulders, legs, and frame create a physique that many fans will consider more aesthetically pleasing.

Walker has advantages in density, hardness, muscular detail, and conditioning.

The 2026 Olympia showed that neither physique completely dominated the other.

Why Nick Walker Ultimately Won

Walker won because bodybuilding competitions are not decided by picking the prettiest physique or the biggest physique.

The complete package has to survive every comparison.

Walker came into prejudging in excellent condition, maintained his presentation, and built a lead over Dauda. He then remained competitive enough in the finals to preserve that advantage.

Dauda's comeback was spectacular, but it came too late.

The final result was only a two-point difference.

That tells you how close the competition actually was.

Nick Walker did not destroy Samson Dauda.

Samson Dauda did not get robbed.

Instead, two elite physiques presented different strengths, and Walker was more consistent across the complete judging process.
