Filipina weightlifter to Tokyo Olympics

After winning the gold in the Southeast Asian Games last year, Hidilyn Diaz garnered 3 silver medals in the 2019 Asian Weightlifting Championship held in Ningbo, China recently. Diaz is poised to represent the country in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics carrying the hope of winning an Olympic medal for weightlifting.

I am proud to see a Filipina won in an international sports competition. It depicts that despite the lack of support from the government, the Filipino athletes in a developing country were able to garner a winning place. It shows how hardworking, determined and self-disciplined in achieving their goals even though they are training in a poor-budgeted place and lack of equipment necessary in enhancing their athletic skills.
