Joe Weider is most popular for his work in bodybuilding. Joe was an entrepreneur, bodybuilder, weightlifter and magazine publisher who founded the International Federation of Bodybuilders (IFBB) as well as several fitness magazines including "Muscle & Fitness", "Flex", "Men's Fitness" and "Shape".
Another one of Joe Weider's greatest accomplishments was founding what is now known as the IFBB with his brother Ben Weider. By 1978 there were more than 500,000 members within joe's company which continues to this day!
Joe also worked on many projects that would help him with his success like developing courses on nutrition and physical exercise for people all over the world. His programs helped athletes achieve their goals as well as helped average joes just looking to lose a little weight.
Joe Weider was born on March 15, 1919, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. His parents were Jewish and came from Poland and Romania. He started working out with weights at age thirteen and later attended the Toronto Royal Canadian Air Force College after high school graduation. Joe became interested in bodybuilding and began promoting it by making many different courses about weightlifting and nutrition available to people of all ages around the world for free!
In 1973 Joe Weider received an honorary Doctorate of Science degree from McMaster University for his work with physical training of athletes as well as amateurs worldwide. Joe also created the IFBB which is now one of the largest sports organizations in the world. Joe Weider passed away on March 23, 2013, at the age of 93 leaving behind a legacy that has inspired many people to live healthier lives. He was married to Betty Weider for over fifty years and had two sons - Ben & Shawn as well as one grandson Jay who is now carrying out Joe's grand dream!
Joe Weider ended up creating the IFBB which is one of the largest sports organizations in the world today. Joe also made courses available online that would inform people all over about bodybuilding, nutrition, exercise and just overall healthiness that still carries on until this day thanks to Joe's son Ben.
