Man Arrested at Laredo Bridge for Attempted Steroid Smuggling

On April 22, 2025, Hugo Michel Valdez Moreno was arrested at the Juarez-Lincoln International Bridge in Laredo, Texas, for attempting to smuggle steroids into the United States. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers referred his vehicle for secondary inspection, during which they discovered anomalies under the driver's seat, near the firewall under the hood, and in front of the dashboard. Further examination revealed packages labeled as steroids weighing 3.59 pounds, along with 150 tablets. Valdez Moreno was charged with importation of a controlled substance. Following the inspection, Homeland Security Investigations agents conducted further investigation, after which Valdez Moreno invoked his right to legal counsel.
