The last book I've read in probably 4 years or so is Arnolds Encyclopedia of bodybuilding. Love the old school arnold, but not in a gay way or anything. Anyways its Tuesday Dec 22 2009, I've been trying to cut for awhile but this time of year there is a ton of food around the office and I don't have the best will power. Heres my routine today:
Warm up on Bike for 5 mins
---------------
--Dead Lifts on smith machine- (normally use olympic bar but all were in use today)
7 reps 135 lbs (warm up)
4 reps 155 lbs
4 reps 175 lbs
5 reps 195 lbs
4 reps 205 lbs +9 reps 135 lbs as a strip set
--Leg Press-
10 reps 150 lbs+7 reps for calve raises
10 reps 190 lbs+7 reps for calve raises
10 reps 215 lbs+7 reps for calve raises
10 reps 230 lbs+7 reps for calve raises
10 reps 250 lbs+7 reps for calve raises
10 reps 275 lbs+7 reps for calve raises

If the smith machine was the only thing available to DL on then I'd skip DLs.

You should learn how to scowl at the people using the barbells.

Dead lifts on a smith machine. I swear to God I read that in a Flex magazine interview fellas that Dexter Jackson does those sometimes. I'll get a copy of it and scan it in if I can remember. I don't normally do that though, just there weren't any regular olympic bars that weren't being used and I didn't have time to wait. -- but hey THANKS for the reads for real. I'm excited to make it on to a new forum

Rule #1: Never believe or follow what a muscle mag tells you. 99.9999999999999% of the time it's full of shit. The remaining 0.000000000001% is up to chance.

http://dailyburn.com/locker_room/awhites1 Ok here's my newest tool. Iphone app Dailyburn...a calorie counter and workout tracker. i've always kept a workout journal. thats easy. keep it in on the dresser and take it to the gym to work out. but food journal a bit of a pain in the asz. so please visit my profile and check out my diet under nutrition or work out under duh workouts and tell me what you think

LOL....that has to to be THE most retarded reason to do smith machine deadlifts. How about the simple reason being they're:

(a) mechanically disadvantageous for you to lift heavy weights

(b) potentially harmful because you will either develop bad motor units and habits OR you will hurt your muscle if you strain to lift a heavy weight

Does that not outshine the "Wheeler did it so I can do it too" arguement?

cracked the 200 lb bench press mark on saturday. it was kind of bad ass:
9 reps 195 lbs
9 reps 195 lbs
9 reps 205 lbs

i remember when i started 2 years ago i was repping around 140ish. seems like i've taken a long time to get up to that weight but if you put all the time i've missed together taking off a week here or 2 or even a month. that's probly a good 6 months w/ out exaggerating. I'm psyched. and also at least 6 months to a year I wasn't training right. Didn't even used to do flat bench b/c I was self conscious about how little i did. Anyways know I could have went a little higher but didn't have a spotter. I now bench at least 10lbs more than i weigh. Awesome
