In some interviews a few years ago, Mourinho said that he wants in his coaching career to train a few years in England (at that time he was at Chelsea), then a few in Italy (won everything with Inter), then Spain (Real M. right now), and after all that he wants for his last years of coaching, to take Portugal's national team.

I'm pretty sure it was something along those lines, to train in England, Italy and Spain, and then to be Portugal's coach. This means, that Portugal's best times are yet to come... he will win at least one Euro tournament and probably a World Cup, or placing very high imo.
