Women Boxing – middleweight unification bout in the offing

After WBC and WBO middleweight champion Christina Hammer won by unanimous decision over Tori Nelson, Claressa Shields followed suit with her own unanimous decision win over Hanna Gabriels. Holding the IBF and WBA middleweight belts, Shields was floored by Gabriels in the first round. But that knockdown did not deter Shields to fight her own style and eventually won by a mile in the scorecards. The planned unification bout between Shields and Hammer may materialize within this year.
