This was only a minor setback because, after this, Lee decided to join an amateur competition, the Niagara Falls Championships.

Although this competition was not so recognized, he participated anyway. While he participated, he was able to get his pro card which means he was qualified as a bodybuilder. This achievement marked Lee Priest as one of the youngest men in history to get a Pro card at age 20.

Priest participated in many bodybuilding competitions within the IFBB for 16 years. While he aced some, there was one event he was struggling with, the Ironman Pro. He tried several times to place first in this event but all to no avail.
