Only after. Don't want to stretch a cold muscle.

I stretch the muscle group im training slightly before a good 10 sec stretch, and flex the said muscle bout 3 times after each set. Then afterwards stretch said mucle group for about 30 seconds.

Stretching before is actually beneficial as it can put blood into the muscle and increase it's possible exertion. But overstretching before hand can be damaging which is why I limit it to 10 sec stretch.

I don't static stretch before I workout but I do dynamic stretches.

I sometimes do static streches after wards or later in the evenings.

I don't see a reason to perform static stretch prior to lifting. I just the do warm up sets like most people, its basically a dynamic stretch.

Research have shown that static stretching before lifting can actually have a negative effect on the lifts - so I keep away from that. I do, however, do mobilitydrills before lifting.

Doesn't stretching get blood flowing to the muscles to help warm them up? I guess I won't be stretching before I lift anymore if it doesn't help. I try to stretch after workouts for sure though.

you should stretch after a warm up if you plan to do it in the beginning, never stretch a cold muscle
ballistic stretching is useless (kind of like if you want to stretch you calf, you stay leaning foward then going back whilst still in the stretch position)
"hard" stretching afaik can reduce your strength for the workout, not neccessarly bad,

what i have read and remembered

I do cardio before (5-10 min), no stretch. Afterwards if I feel stiff I do some stretching, if not I go straight to cardio.

Active dynamic before and static afterwards. Stretching statically before or during a workout is not a good idea.

I don't static stretch before I workout but I do dynamic stretches.

I sometimes do static streches after wards or later in the evenings.

Tim knows his stuff:thumbsup2: I did this exact thing for football. Even before running I'd always do dynamic stretches and static afterwards. I'd get stronger and my flexability improved as well.

Currently I have such a busy schedule with 19hours of school that I get caught up with that and dont stretch enough.
