Not to familiar with the Zelda series. Resident evil has taken a wierd turn though, from what I read about it, it sounds not to zombish.

lol best quote from the movie is Mike Epps:

"GTA mutha fucka!" *runs over zombie* :bowroflarms: :bowroflarms:

The movies themselves are a mixed lot for sure. The first film was so-so; between Michelle Rodriguez's overly tough girl performance and CGI ZOMBIES(gack), it wasn't the finest moment for RE. It did a few things well, but fewer things right. The complete lack of association with the franchise itself was damaging, especially to fans such as ourselves. And honestly, who else is going to see the movie aside from those who love the games(or whomever they drag with them?)

The second run for RE(Apocalypse) on the big screen was much more of a success in my eyes. Sienna Guillory/Jill Valentine was the standout for me. Oded Fehr played a good Olivera too. I even loved the portrayl of Nicholai; while not true to the game, that's not necessarily a bad thing. Jovovich was quite good here as well. The shunning of the franchise definitely hasn't been repeated here, as there are a number of scenes in the movie that are practically lifted straight from the game.

While there is a bit of throw away material that even fans such as myself had to take tounge in cheek, it was a vast improvement over the first in the series. Problem is, I listened to the actor's commentary on the DVD. Sienna sounded quite brilliant; she kept discussing the franchise, her character, and what she did to prepare and portray Jill. Milla and Oded, on the other hand, sounded like flighty morons(especially Jovovich). EG-Sienna "So I really researched Jill beforehand, watched the games videos, etc. It was important for me to see all her strengths and vulnerabilities, like how she acts without a weapon. She's a fascinating woman, and it was challenging to take her on."
Milla"Sometimes this movie scares me when I watch it; I think I have the virus for real!"
Oded"Eeeee! You're infected!"
Milla"Oh you know who came over yesterday?"
Oded"Who?!"
Sienna"It was important for me to show who Jill really was, the Jill from the games..."
:uhoh2: Gah.

Although the franchise is scheduled for two more movies, so we'll see what they do with them. If they have Sienna, than hope can bloom.

On another track, I've been a little hit and miss with the Zelda franchise(I think mexican muscle mentioned the series). The 8-bit titles were classics, as was the SNES A Link to the Past. The
N64's Ocarina of Time definitely takes the duke for me, and then the fall came. Majora's Mask seemed like a horrible joke, and I only really played about the first fifteen minutes. Four Swords=Pass. Also passed on Windwaker; the cell shade just didn't say 'buy me', personally. I'm excited to see what Twilight Princess brings to the table, but if the endless delays are any indication, it should be incredible.
The handheld versions, on the hand, have never struck home with me. Too repetitive and too many stinking and meandering puzzles. Since gameplay is not an issue to be addressed/changed on said titles, the puzzle factor is overkilled in a major way.

good review there eric, but i have to disagree, i have actually found all the games very entertaining, even the handheld titles, but i guess it's because im a Zelda superfreak as well, i anticipate twilight princess to be an excellent game, and won't hestitate to get my hands on it as soon as it is released.

Nice shots, Mini...errr...Arcane. And thank you for your opinion on Windwaker; I'll have to give it a shot someday.

No worries at all, mexican muscle. Thank you for sticking by your guns. I just never really enjoyed the puzzle-heavy elements that much. I loved the heavier action approach taken in Ocarina though(as well as Link's Adventure; take that haters...), and I predict the same will be said for Twilight Princess. It looks amazing at this point anyway, so all that's left is to experience the final product itself.

Do we have any Final Fantasy fans out there? Do I really need to ask? Best? Worst? Discuss.

I've played Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (one of my favorite games ever) and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (alright, nothing amazing). I don't like Sony consoles, so I've missed most of the true FF games. However, I plan on buying FF3 when it comes out for DS this year.

I'm eagerly waiting for that one as well. FF3(or 6, for all the purist nerds out there) was the first game in the series that I ever really played. I know 5 is due out in November, but 3(6) is on delay as far as I know. Was slated for Nov, but good 'ol Square-Enix has come through yet again.

The origional on the NES was great, though I remember it being pretty tough at the time. Two was good, but the story was a little innane. Three was severely excellent. Seven...meh. Advent Children has helped it a little, but the original still holds little for me. Eight got the series back on track in my eyes, and I missed Nine. Ten was great in some ways, amazing in others, and not so good here and there as well. X-2 was a cruel joke propegated by insidious Japanese morons to get a laugh at the states. Never have played Eleven; we'll have to see about Twelve. The handhelds were a little more obscure(as well as the shoot-offs), so I don't really have an opinion concerning them. Plus, I missed them anyway. My younger brother played CC nd Tactics Advance(a port of the ps1 title); liked Tactics but was so-so on CC.

Tactics Advance wasn't a port. It was a new game.

Oops, my bad. Assumptions will get me, every now and again.

As far as next gen goes, I'm undecided at this point. Of the three, the X-Box 360 has the least to offer me personally, although Dead Rising does make a strong case to the contrary. I usually give the next consoles some time before I purchase; namely to build up a decent game base and product refinement/work the bugs out. The PS3's price is a stickler, but the games already slated do look very impressive. I guess I'm most excited about the Wii though. The beyond innovative control scheme coupled with the insane amount of buyable nostalgia is a one-two punch that's hard to resist. I grew up with Nintendo, and it's nice to see them really raise the bar again. With my life how it is though, I don't really know how much time I'll have for games in the future.

They definitely are time-consuming, and are an acquired taste at that. I've enjoyed them well in the past, but in the last year or two I've played very little in said genre.

:bowroflarms: Gotta bow to the almighty $ every now and again.

Even as such, I likely won't buy any for at least another year/year and a half. The early run of the PS2 was ridden with technical problems; my brother returned two consoles within nine months due to system failures. I'm a hard line Sony fan, but it seems like they're setting themselves up for some difficulties with the PS3.
Namely:
-Incredibly High Pricing(Neo Geo, anyone? Who even remembers that? Sign of age...Plus, is Bluetooth really that important?)
-Lack of integrated Rumble Technology(if it ain't broke, don't fix it)
-Early issues with back-compatibility(the PS2 had a handful, but the PS3 already has many more)
-A release after both the 360 and the Wii(timing is bad)
-Apathy from the public(many simply aren't caring as much about the console at this point; I'm not one of them, but it's still an issue)

My Gamecube gathers dust, and the X-Box has no home with me. My PS2 still sees good use, but Sony's decisions with the PS3 are still leaving me scratching my head. I'll just wait and see, but from a gaming point of view, the PS3 definitely has the most to offer me personally in the long run out of the three consoles. Being as such, the Wii is still at the top of my interest list at this point.

I never liked Sony's products too much. Bad quality imo.
