Nintendo has always been solid in their product and presentation; it's delays that Mr. Miyamoto is beyond famous for. When everyone's ps1 cd's were getting busted left and right, the N64's cartridge's were just fine. Even the Gamecube's mini approach seemed much more durable in the long run.

Game Informer just ran a spread on the Wii's launch and heavy-development titles, and I like what I see. But the strongest point for me is still the control scheme. The motion-sensitive controller is genius. One of my favorite arcade stand-ups of all time was Police911, which was a motion-sensitive shooter, via a pressure ground plate. Killer quads/hams/calves/glutes workout, plus you sweat like a beast, I kid you not. I've seriously looked into getting a unit for at home cardio; does being an officer make that want pathetic, or just tounge-in-cheek?

well that sounds great man, i have never played that game, but i can see how it could be cardio. and i think the Wii will have sort of that feeling as well, more movement, hence a bit more exercise, and of course a greater sense of involvement, ahh virtual reality seems so close now!

It's received shaky reviews. Team AI is spotty, and an overall lack of progress and innovation is being recognized at this point. EA's getting a little lazy in their dominance, I feel. EA Sports is bald now Pain; 2K's '07 offering has been killing it across the way.

You're one up on me Pumba. I suck something awful at BF2; it gets even worse online. Maybe I'll stop taking traffic shifts and practice up a little more...

You two should play red faction online, or even the single player. One of the best online games in my book, geo mod is awesome :D

I've really enjoyed the Red Faction series, the second more than the first. I've never tried it online though. As such, thanks for the heads up on it chesti. And yeah, Geomod is beyond cool and far ahead of its time.

I'm perplexed as to why more developers haven't adopted it, or at least ripped it off. A huge and legitimate complaint against most FPS titles is their far too linear approach. Some have tried giving you semi-branched paths to taking on a certain situation(which really don't work), but Geomod's been the simplest and best ssolution to said problem. Don't want to walk into a sentry point? Blow up the freakin' wall and flank them.

Plus, there's just a simple feeling of accomplishment when your unleashed ammunition leaves a permanent and beyond noticeable dent in the sorrounding environment. Take that, Half Life 2.

Good post eric.

The single player mode is good to, a great storyline. I didn't enjoy the second as much because it had NOTHING to do with the first one, it would of been nice to have a follow up with what happened to parker. It also annoyed a lot of people that there was no online multi player aswell.

Thank you, chesti.

It does seem a little odd when a developer seems to take a step back like that. I believe they cut a PC version of Red Faction; I'll need to snap that up to roll the multiplayer.

Although after having a number of seriously unbalanced and ridiculous boss/enemy encounters in the first game, I wasn't shedding any tears for a hop to a new storyline in the second. The urban environments were much more of a hit for me, and seemed to fit the purpose of Geomod better overall.

An evolving base is a huge plus for any game; good to hear that Red Faction is supported in such a way.

Anyone here played F.E.A.R? Thoughts?

The X-Box 360 is getting its version in November(theoretically), and the PS3 has a slated release as well with some more added content in early 2007.

It's obnoxiously high-end on the PC, but my system can run it fairly well(after about $450 in recent upgrades:tear: ) The particle effects are quite impressive, and the overall gameplay is smooth. Weapon selection isn't vast, but the fact that each weapon is extremely fun to use trumps the need to have a huge arsenal at your fingertips. The enemy AI is simply amazing; better than any game I've ever played. They'll flank, use environmental objects and improvised cover, hop rails, utilize all their kit(throw grenades at really bad times), etc. It's challenging without being ridiculously overwhelming, like the first Far Cry was.

A haunting and well written storyline augments some of the most well balanced 'frantic' action I've ever seen. It's definitely worth a buy, but it's fairly elitist requirements on the PC will likely have many waiting for a console release. Play it, and you'll thank yourself later.

well sounds great, i remember seeing trailers and screenshots, and it looked amazing. if it does come out on a console, i'll be sure to play it, i just don't like playing games on the computer.
