LMAO, bodybuilding would be tainted? i think its too late to save the sanctity of bodybuilding after that with he whole steroid stigma and all the other BS aside from what society portrays bodybuilders to steriotypically be. I dont think people would think about it too much actually. And if they do, bodybuilding has a way of not caring about what most people think, and it keeps on trucking.

The very fact that there is already a bad rep for BBing because of steroids is the very reason why they wouldn't want any of the other little scandals.

Remember that these are the same people that tell the world that Ronnie is just huge because he eats a lot of chicken breast and is insanely strong. They do not want to admit the "seedy" underside of BBing to the mainstream.

Also take a look at the most recent champs: Ronnie, Jay, Dex; all great public profiles, all well liked and good ambassadors for the sport (although there are stories about Jay), all present a clean cut image. Kai would not be able to show up as an ambassador without someone asking about his G4P shoots.

I know kai did G4P but i dunno why its concidered gay? gay means being attracted to or having sexual activities with another man, a fruit is not a man LOL. Masturbating on camera for money isnt really gay either. I think G4P is doing gay porn for money. Kai didnt do gay porn, he did 1 man shows and i dont think he put them up his butt lol. Either way it will be interesting how his carreer pans out knowing what he didi when he wa broke.

I see what u mean but i what kai greene did is not technically gay. i would jack off in front of a cam or bone a watermelon for 5k and i would be comfortable (other than the fact that i wouldnt want to do it in the first place) that its not gay because i did nothing gay. Being a stripper isnt gay yet there may be gay men aswell as desperate houswives but a gay man tossing money in front of me while i stip is in a way no different than a straight woman throwing money at me since im doing the exact same thing (1 man show) and it doesnt matter if gays,girls,arabs, canadians , or jews who are watching because if i made a video and then later it was uploaded, i cannot see them, i cannot touch them, they cannot touch me yet all their money is the same. i know people call it G4P and it will always be called G4P but its technically not gay.

so..politics or not, and maybe i'm biased (don't think his physique is worth for winning the O, never ever!) but i agree with Weider's politics in this case.

i think we tend to overanalyze things a bit. bodybuilding judging should be blind from a familiarity perspective and not judge guys on how known they are and the momentum they have, they should be judged on physique period. but i know thats not the case

also arnold posed nude for weider's gay magazine but nobody cares about (i hope).

In BBing pro circles where everyone takes steroids it isn't cheating (almost the same can be said of most pro sports). What does matter is the moral choices you make in your life.

How can you be an ambassador for the sport if you don't live by a high moral standard. Betraying yourself and your standing in society you cannot be given any respect, because quite simply you haven't respected yourself. Kai even admits he is ashamed of those photos and vids....now. That is not the make of a champion and ambassador of the sport, that is a walking disaster for the sport.

i didn't know kai was ashamed or regretted about that, but this is only a point in his favor. it means he HAD TO do it because he (probably) needed money...because you'd do anything to become world's best built man.
instead of blaming him for his past, i'd only appreciate how he is now: how he trains, how funny and down to earth he is and the tremendous improvements he makes despite not being so young (which could arguably mean that he takes more "risks" than other pros). only thing really bad with kai is that he don't really pose when he "poses". i would appreciate more mandatories and less dancing, that's not the place to show your michael jackson's skills...
other than that is passion and dedication for the sport along with his undisputed charisma are unmatched.

The stories about Jay are from guys on here who have met him (and had dinner with him). Not really my place to say.

Kai cannot be an ambassador of the sport (which is implicit in winning an O). End of story. The story would stop being about him being a BBer and would be about his "shady past".

Ronnie did a pretty decent job. Dex seems to do a good job. Dennis Wolf comes across really well, even when dealing with condescending arseholes. I think Phil seems decent and he is always nice when he posts here. So there are plenty.

The promotion of the sport to attract a wider audience is something that the champs do. Ronnie, Dennis Wolf, I think Dex, have all been on TV in Aust trying to raise the profile of the sport. I assume that this is even more prevalent in other countries. The media are generally ignorant and stupid so if you give them something easy to talk about (they are used to scandal) they will run it into the ground, ruining the sport at the same time.

You could say that Martinez was robbed of the '07 O and that his shady past may have been a reason for this. He didn't look to have lost on stage.

I think people are being a little naive to believe that politics don't play a huge part in selecting a champ (conciously or subconciously in the minds of the judges). I would be happy to be proved wrong on this, except for the fact that I don't like Kai's physique.
