Bad argument, pedophelia is illegal thus wrong not only morally but legally as well. You comparing it to homosexuality is not a valid argument because it is not illegal and only wrong morally to those that don't understand what it is... not naming names. :carduindisguise

i am not comparing it persay to pedophilia, but i am comparing it to other fetishes that are unnatural that people are born with and cannot help. in this sense, it is comparable. i do not find homosexual acts comparable to pedophilia in a morality sense, or anything else illegal for that matter (though legality has nothing to do with it imo).

as stated before, this isn't completely my view on it (for a gay male i do not find it at all to be a fetish, females tend to be far more fickle with their sexuality, and this is only my opinion, but i bet half of the "lesbian" population, isn't really lesbian. they just hate guys or are just having fun) but more of what those who are opposed to it say. i am not opposed to gays being together for the record.

Peopophilia has its basis in history and genetics. Normally tribal customs were to marry off (or whatever similar custom) girls just as they started to mature. So it is natural for men to be attracted to younger women, and conversely for women to be attracted to older men (as proved by the study I posted previously). The extremes of this will obviously occur and it is a deriviation from the norm that would normally be weeded out, but under the anonynimity of modern society it doens't happen. Interesting to think that several famous people in history would be regarded as pedophiles; Elvis, Ronnie Wood, Alexander the Great, etc.

So it is and it isn't a fair comparison to homosexuality. Fair if looked at in context, but not in terms of our current cultural values. We do as a species exhibit drives to do things. In past societies certain criminals and "sick people" would be regarded as great leaders and warriors. Now we do not tollerate these behaviours. Some of these behaviours, although purely natural, do exhibit some level of choice, but this choice is rather unfair. How many gay men are going to be able to live a life with no real sexual gratification. If they do not give into their natural urges you have the frustrated (possibly violent) guy that will have to channel the urges somewhere. Think about all those priests that are supposedly celebate; great record they have with not giving into urges.

For the record I don't support people going out and having sex with kids. We have neither the culture nor society that this would be acceptable in and as a result it irrefutably damages the kids. Our society has also changed the definition of childhood, so the "jailbait" teens are usually going to be vicitimised or suffer some form of usury. As a result I don't support this either.

it is viewed by some to not necessarily to be a choice, but a fetish. and just as you aren't supposed to act on a necrophelyactic (spelling?) fetish, you aren't supposed to act on this one. i have heard/read of some very disturbing fetishes, such as one where the man is aroused greatly when the woman is being choked or injured. even though having this fetish isn't a choice (who the hell would chose such a thing) and is likely something they were born with (just as homosexual tendencies) it doesn't make it right. this isn't so much my view on it, but more an elaboration of what some religious individuals who vote against it feel. which they have every right to.
