Rage- Thank you:) I was pleased with my grip, as it's been anything but good on said lift as of late.

Rocky- Thank you, fellow enforcer of da law:tiphat: I've actually found if I don't go into a contest a little crispy, I'm a little sluggish and off.

Glex- Did:hsughr::hsughr::hsughr::hsughr:

Bulkboy- Thank you:D It went well; much more pleased with myself this time around.

Tweak- :bowroflarms::bowroflarms:Nancy Drew and butt grabbing:49:
I mean, who's Nancy Drew? Nancy drew what? Is it a dude? A verb?.....:tear:

It's been one of those days, but at least I didn't have patrol at all. Even as such, I am SO freaking tired. I decided to throw in a quad/calves session this morning to crisp things up, and it payed off. I'll have the update on that and my fight later tomorrow. Suffice it to say it was a serious honor to be involved in this event, and more to the point to have competed against this individual.

That, and I have a bruise the size of Kansas on my right side; I think I may have cracked a rib:dunnodude:

Hypo- Thank you:) I was surprised for sure, as my grip usually goes around 8-10.

Base- Thank you very much:D I seriously just try to keep up though; there are a ton of dedicated workers here:tiphat:

Bulkboy- Jep:hsughr:

Life's busy...blah blah:angrydude::no:

Sorry, as ususal, for my update lag. I'll start with my last two sessions, and then hit a fight/injury update.

Last Saturday.....
Quads

Leg Press
720X20(working warmup)
1020X15
1200X15
1290X11
1380X9

Single Leg Press

710X9(PB :hsughr:)
480X11
390X16
300X21

Quad Extensions superset w/single leg ext.

210X15/90X11
250X14/130X8
290X15/170X6(PB :hsughr:)

All done in about 35 min, and it was the closest I've come to hurling in some time. My contest was later that evening, so this workout made everything excellently crispy without pushing the exhaustion factor at all. The actual fight, on the other hand....

Today

Shoulders

Warmup-Standing Side Laterals
30X15

Military Barbell Press

225X15
245X11
245X9:)disgust:)

Behind the Neck Military Press-I normally don't dig rotator-killing and off the wall lifts like these, but if I keep it light, tight and do it once in a long while, I feel it hits my shoulders at an excellent angle.

135X15
155X13
185X12

Vertical Grip Seated Bench Press-I dig these for their ability to really hammer my frontal delts.

100X15(warmup)
180X15
200X14
200X11

Triceps

Standing Rope Pushdowns(facing the stack)

100X15
150X15
150X16

Behind the Head Dumbbell Presses

80X15(working warmup)
105X11
110X9(again, a hearty :disgust: Don't know where my strength was this workout)

Standing Double Kickbacks-I added a little thumb side twist to the end of each rep, and the burn was incredible-resulted in some lighter weight, but I'm much more into quality than quantity anyway.

50X15
55X15
60X12

Calves

Seated Calf Raises-I was happy with these:)

135X15(working warmup)
225X15
245X15
275X16

That was that. I'm shifting back to my press/raises split for shoulders, and I'm excited to see the results of such. Tri's are crispy and I'm feeling great being back in the gym. The result of my so-far sabbatical will be explained a little later on....

Alrighty, here's teh contest. I am much more pleased with myself in the aftermath of this bout than I was after my last one, and I know I'll continue improving as a fighter day by day.

So my opponent was someone that liked the ground, and for the most part, he didn't break stride at all. I was calm backstage during my warmups, even more so than I was last time. This wasn't born of underlaid pride though, so I knew I was much better off going in. My official weight that evening was 256, and I was feeling great.

Entrance was good, and the crowd was a little mixed. There were a lot of friends and family of my buddy's fighters there, so I ended up being a bit of a heel. I thought it was just fine though:49: We were in a ring, as most gyms around here are too cheap to spring for an actual cage:49: I've heckled my friend about it a couple of times, and he'll likely get honest soon.

So the bell rings, and we start to circle. Within the first ten seconds, he shoots. I sprawl and am able to stop it, so he starts to stand for a possible transition to a clinch. As he's rising, I threw in a circumstantial knee that felt like it connected right on the button. I obviously couldn't see it all that well, but something hurt pretty bad when I hit it- he did have a pointy chin:dunnodude:

So we transition to a standing clinch, and he's able to get underhooks. He immediately tried swinging/bull-rushing me to the mat, but I was able to keep my feet. I extended my arms and slipped free, catching a glancing but weak left as I did so. Crowd cheered the exchange as I got some distance, then it was back to business.

I didn't know what to expect stand-up wise from him, so I decided to exchange. He seemed hesitant on this:dunnodude: Normally, a nice two-combo is a great lead in for a shoot, but he seemed too fixated on not getting hit instead of tying in some stand up and wrestling. I didn't mind this at all, as I was content to exploit this surprise. His strikes were just not connecting, and he soon gave up on potential combinations as well. He went to reaction striking, so to counter that I rushed a little more as I drove; it's really hard to counter if you're backpedaling from an interposing strike. I normally don't do this, but I thought it might pay off. It did:dunnodude:

So I hear the two minute mark from my corner, so I decide to shoot. It ended up being a little slow though, or slow enough at least; my opponent took the opportunity to sink in a beautiful guillotine on my double-leg attempt. It was seriously deep, and tapping was getting to be an option at this point.

So, I pulled a total lug move. I planted my legs(which is freaking HARD when you're in this choke), lifted him by the waist, and proceeded to slam him with quite a bit of authority, if I may say so myself. There's a number of reasons I don't like to go for a slam in this position, and a number of them were brought to the forefront at this point.

It uses up a lot of energy - doubly so if you're being choked. It reeks of desperation, so it can be sloppy. Slamming one's head is always a danger, but at least I didn't do that. What did happen was one of his legs slipped from guard and ended up against my ribs on da right side. He ended up having his leg bent and slamming his heel down as he impacted, ergo his knee drove HARD into said area. It worked though; he was stunned, released the choke, and I quickly passed to side control.

Good thing he was slowed down for a sec, because I was in some serious pain. I thought I'd broken something, but I wasn't really having any problems breathing; blessing for that. We both were a little sluggish for a few seconds, then it was him trying to escape the position and me going for an Americana. This was getting me tired, but he was slowing down as well. I was able to arrest his motion by really getting up on my toes, then I was able to isolate his right arm. I figure-foured it and started to sink it in....when the stinking bell rang. End of Round 1-found out later two judges scored it 10-9 for me, and the third 10-9 for my opponent. Huh:dunnodude:

Thanks to my interval cardio[which I hate, btw:49:], I was feeling better going into Round 2. We circle....than my competitor starts pulling an Andy Wang. His corner is screaming at him to shoot, but he started to come at me with these looping Franca-style strikes. I gave ground and countered when I could, cutting corners and throwing short shots as I went. He tagged me well a couple of times, but I was starting to get a little confused at this point.

His corner was straight up screaming, but he didn't seem to be listening to them:dunnodude: I decide to clinch up the next time he rushed me, but it ended up turning into a semi-sprawl as he changed into a weird rush-shoot. Good thing was, I was able to get immediate underhooks. As his corner screamed at him to slip, I decided to try another knee. I felt some serious face on this one, which was good as I'd accidentally let go of my hooks as I threw said appendage.

He popped right up, and he was hazy, so I decided to throw for the fences and see what would happen. I connected with a right and a bodyshot left. As he corrected his stance from the bodyshot(basically, he started to straighten up), I thought I'd try a high right round kick. Again, this is something I really don't like to do much, as the counters and consequences are both numerous and painful. The situation seemed right though, and it turned out to be a good move.

I connected solidly with the left side of his cranium, and that was that. He collapsed cleanly to the right, and was coherent within a minute or so. There were some serious boos in there, but I relished what cheers I received. He stood for the decision, we embraced, and I held his hand up high. He's a freaking warrior, and it was a true honor to share a bout with him.

Decision : Win via KO at 2:13 of Round 2

I got checked out on Monday, and nothing on my right side was broken. The bruise is even completely gone at this point, but I'm still pretty ginger at this point; ergo my little break from training for most of this week. Tomorrow will likely be back and forearms, and possible biceps if I find I have the time.

Until then gentlemen, thank you for all of your continuing support and encouragement. It truly makes a huge difference, and I sincerely thank you all for it:2:

That's our boy, knockin' mother fuckers out! :2: Sounds like he was a pretty good fighter and an all-around tough guy to get you in that desperate slam situation and take some of what you dished out before going down; way to go man :xyxthumbs:

I bet I could take you, though. Me and everyone who's ever posted on your log will take you three at a time, replacing each other as they get knocked out. I'll go 27th...I could probably do some serious damage then :ughfingers:

Arcane- Thank you very much:) I just hope I never dissapoint my trainers, so my work is geared towards that goal.

Dobbs- Thank you:D I'll tell you what, the guy had ahard freaking head; seriously hurt my foot:e5dunno:

Bulkboy- I'm not really sure when my next fight will be. After these two, and the surprise injury from this one, I feel like I need to rest up a bit.

Miami- Thank you for hitting my log:)

Base- Thank you:2: Surprises can pay off big time every now and again; I just need to not cross the line into stupid:49:

Glex- He's been the best I've had the opportunity to compete against in my nearly four years of MMA; his guillotine was a thing of beauty. Stinking Joe Stevenson, popularizing that....:49: Just for the record, you guy's would likely have me screaming for mercy right quick....so I'm just gonna go now :hide:

Rocky- Thank you:D I'm just glad I could remember enough of this fight to write up a decent account. A marked journalistic improvement over my last 'nearly got KTFO' write up for sure; let holes in the memory this time around:linedrunk:

Turkish- It was a unique experience being on the receiving end of the 'boos', but it did really help me tune out the rest of the area. I'm sure I'll use that again in the future.

Tweak- Thank you for keeping me honest in here, and I'm sorry for my mutual slacking in all of your logs:duh::disgust:

So a slight update. I had a back workout that shouldn't have happened last Saturday. I got nine sets in on back, had three PB's, but I couldn't shake an over-riding pain in my right side. It seriously torqued me off, having to cut my workout short and all that.
I actually got an x-ray this past Monday, just to find out that I didn't have a broken rib on my right side......I freaking have a seperation on my right side. Still hurts like a beast, and I've been wrapped like a mummy and on enforced rest since. No work, no gym, etc....I'm going freaking insane.
It does feel like things are improving though, so hopefully I'll be back in the mix soon:ughfingers: Thank you again, you guys, for your support in the face of my crappy slacking here:no:
