Sweet crap, I'm doing it again:angrydude: I'm sorry for the neglect in my log here, you guys; after all of your support, I don't want to appear ungrateful. Life has just seemed to nonstop lately, but that's no excuse; I know there are a lot of you here that have it worse than me.
Shade- Thank you Your sig is excellent, BTW.
Tweak- All they'd need is Chuck Norris to go to war with them, and there would be nothing crazy about that.
A heartfelt 'thank you' as well, Tweak I'm sorry I couldn't give you any more specifics on that training gear
Glex- Just remember... if I bleed, you can kill me. Which I do, and which you could....so please don't do that I need to work hard if I'm going to keep up with your graves and cardio.
Rage- Thank you I don't believe anyone did, but guiltily enough, it was pretty funny.
Dobbs- Humbling comments, and thank you for them My forearms have always been a cause for concern though; my arms are so long, I always have to put extra work into them to keep some semblence of symmetry.
Turkish- Thank you More than the weight, I was just glad that I was able to keep proper from through all my reps on da hacks.
Bulkboy- Thank you That 315 is always something, though I was on a kick a bit back to ramp up my numbers on said lift, but the elbow pain was quick in coming around 385 or so; ergo, I like the aformentioned weight for the work and the pump.
I have a number of sessions to post up, but I'll address my fight update right now. Two days away, and I'm feelin' fine. I'd like to get at least one slam in this fight, but I really don't want to open myself up for an embarassing guillotine with it. I wouldn't mind standing, but I'd truly like to roll around with this guy; the ground is his forte, and I'd truly like to see how I stack up to him in that regard. He'll be coming in around 235, and I'll be coasting in at 252 or so. We're slated last on an exhibition card of five contests; I kind of wish my buddy hadn't done that There are some amazing fighters that will be showing up though, so I'm grateful for the chance I'll have just to be there. All in all, I'm really looking forward to this bout.
And that was that. I'll skimp on going into detail on my MMA training; suffice it to say, it's been turning me inside out. This close to a contest, that's exactly what it should be doing. A lot of guys tend to slow down a bit the last week or so, but I don't like that; the one time I did, I picked up my single loss to date. The kneebar was dang painful, but the feeling was worse. I dig the Bobby Knight approach(even though I've never liked the man himself): training makes the actual fight seem like a break.
Great workout bro, heavy shoulder presses, nice pb on the laterals, Real heavy curls too, hit alot of p.b's their, concentration curls with 70lb db is nuts. Good luck in ur training, and future fights, put these workouts and training sessions to work and kick some ass
Flat BB Press-Every now and again I get stupid and think, "Now maybe I should give flat bench a try again." Then I'm swiftly reminded why I despise this kriffing lift. My body's just not designed for it: my shoulders are too wide, and my arms are too long. I personally feel it's an outdated and stupid dinosaur lift anyway; more a front delt press than a chest motion. Oh well, here it is
135X15
315X5(searing pain in my right pectoral)
225X15(pain persisted)
Decline Dips(No weight belt at this gym, but in retrospect it really wouldn't have been necessary)
MeX17(Pain was still there)
MeX14(Stinking pain....)
MeX10(Screw you, flat press; although I was stupid enough to give it a go)
Triceps
Standing Rope Pushdowns(facing the stack, hence the higher weight)
100X15
150X15
170X13(PB )
190X15(PB )
Standing Dual Kickbacks
50X15
60X15
70X11
85X8(PB ...I'm pretty sure, at least. If not, this was tough enough to be)
Standing Overhead One Arm Extensions
35X15
45X15
50X11(PB )
Forearms
Standing Flexor Curls
150X25
150X20
150X21
Reverse Cambered(EZ) Bar Curls
85X15
115X15(PB )
135X15(PB )
Again, an extremely satisfying workout. The pain in my pec had dissapeared by the time I got to my kickbacks, but my lapse in judgement still annoyed me all the same. Stupid outdated ego lift Even though I haven't been able to train this week, MMA and my diet have been top-notch. Two days away, so we'll just see what happens fight-wise.
I actually thought I'd Mecca-sponsor a bit; Pain, would I get busted having a simple t-shirt screen printed with the forum's address?
Dobbs- Thank you As long as there's no elbow/wrist pain, I look forward to upping my bicep work all around. I'm amped for this bout though; how 'bout I try and throw the masterlock on him? I doubt I'd get it as right as you did though
wow, just a couple of amazing sessions big boy shame on u for trying the flat bb press again i know how it is man, its an ego thing, people always ask how much can u bench?
anyway, incredible incline presses, u blow me away with those, 315 for 12 goddamnit, leg work biceps work its all just outstanding
Sweet shitting crikey - there are a monumental amount of PB's in there with some extraordinary weight. Would take too long to pick all the standouts but laterals & curls are immeidately obvious as being superhuman!
Immense stuff.
Can't wait to hear how your fight goes!
Bulkboy- Thank you Teh flat BB bench is just done for me at this point; I singled 515 about three years ago, but there was a lot that was wrong with my training then. I wouldn't trade health for ego, and I don't see that changing.
I really don't have a specific split right now, as I mostly go by feel. I'll stick loosely to a push/pull format, a'la Vince Taylor, but that's about it. Eg: If my shoulders are strapped from a previous workout, I wouldn't do chest. I've seen a lot of success with it, so I'm still rolling along.
Glex- After I screwed up the use of entropy, I thought I'd get back to basics Thank you very much for your encouragement as well
Rocky- A little less than 24 hours to go, so I'm definitely excited. A compliment on PB's from you definitely carries serious weight, and I thank you for it I really didn't like going that heavy on laterals though; last thing I need is to sever a bicep tendon or screw up my frontal delt.
Alright, I found myself at a bit of a crossroads today. I'm around 24 hours away from my exhibition bout tomorrow, but I haven't weight trained(other than in-gym MMA jargon) all week. So I decided to go with a personal proven shock-method; sixes and nines. It felt incredible, and it'll dial me in strength wise for tomorrow quite nicely

That was that, done in about 70 minutes. Pushing the pace kept my heart rate up, and even though I was feeling a bit depleted post weigh-in (244 after dropping all my water; I'll be around 254 for the fight itself) I was happy with what I was able to do. I hope to bring another win home for the Mecca; update coming tomorrow
