Apart from being a professional bodybuilder who competes in the open class, lain is many things; he's a Canadian coach and a social media star. He has competed in the Mr Olympia competition against other legendary bodybuilders like Big Ramy, Hadi Choopan, Hunter Labrada and Nick Walker.

Iain is not only surrounded by bodybuilders, he's the coach and brother-in-law to one of the best bodybuilders in the industry- Chris Bumstead.

Iain Valliere Early Life

Iain Valliere was born on the 27th of November 1990 in Canada. He has spent most of his life there and he currently resides there.

As a child, he has always been athletic; he was faster and stronger than most of his mates. He ran track and field and even ventured into football at a point. He never liked to participate in team sports because he preferred not to be subjected to team rules. He was a man of purpose right from his childhood and he wanted to take hold of the reins of his destiny.

Before he became a professional bodybuilder, he was already active on his Instagram. He would regularly post interesting content about him helping and coaching others. Eventually, he later became a coach to his brother-in-law, Chris Bumstead, he was also the one that introduced Chris Bumstead to professional bodybuilding. This seemed to be a benefit for both of them because they were men of like passion. They worked and trained together, and Iain seemed comfortable with being in a team with his brother-in-law.

Now, all Valliere wants is to carve out a name for himself in the bodybuilding industry. But he still has a long way to go to become a legend like the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dorian Yates and Ronnie Coleman.

He is considered a huge threat to other bodybuilders in becoming Mr Olympia. With more hard work, Iain has the potential of wearing the Mr Olympia crown one day.

Iain Valliere’s Bodybuilding Career

Iain started his bodybuilding career as an amateur. His first competition was the 2010 OPA Ottawa Championships, in that competition, he placed first in the Junior Men's and placed 3rd in the Men's heavyweight division.

But not quite long after, precisely 4 years later in 2014, Iain earned his Pro card and then entered his first professional show after a year in 2015. The event was the Toronto Pro Supershow, where he placed 5th with Brandon Curry as the winner.

Iain entered his first Mr Olympia competition in 2018 and he placed 14th against Phil Heath who placed 2nd. Iain was the runner-up at the 2020 Tampa pro. He placed first at the IFBB New York Pro 2020, where Hassan Mostafa placed 4th. His win at this contest qualified him for the 2020 Mr Olympia competition where he placed 7th.

In 2021, Iain entered the 2021 Tampa Pro Men's Bodybuilding event where he contested against Griffen and Mohamed Shaaban. Later in that same year, Iain contested and won in the 2021 Texas Pro in Men's Open Bodybuilding event against Steve Kuclo.

Iain Valliere Training Regime

Valliere often does his training together with his brother-in-law, Bumstead. Although they train together, their workout style is quite different from each other. Iain prefers to train heavy and he is considered one of the strongest bodybuilders and that fact is justified by his hulking size. But whenever he's nearing contest season, he scales back a bit on the volume because he has to reduce his carb intake.
Below is a detailed list of his workout routine.

  • Chest

Iain prefers to dive straight into the heavyweights as fast as possible so he doesn't do as much pre-workout as other bodybuilders.

Workout

  • Incline bench press 3 x 6 (warm-up sets), 2 x 7-8 (max)

  • Incline cable fly 3 x 12-15 (rest-pause on final set to failure)

  • Decline hammer press 3 x 6 (warm-up), 1 x 7-12 (max), 1 x 7-12 (strip a plate)

  • Dumbbells fly 3 x 8-12

  • Incline machine press 3 x 8-10

  • Chest dip 3 x 8-12 (failure)

Shoulders

This is one of the works out Valliere practised with Bumstead:

Warm-up

  • Reverse machine press

  • Exercise #1: Dumbbell press

  • Exercise #2: Cable lateral raise

  • Exercise #3: Reverse pec dec

  • Exercise #4: Upright row

  • Exercise #5: Dumbbell lateral raise

Diet and Nutrition

In bodybuilding, the secret to getting bigger is not to work one's ass off at the gym, instead the food you eat plays a vital role too. Just like other bodybuilders, Iain cannot help but eat a lot too. What does Iain eat when he's preparing for a contest? Although he eats a lot, he still prefers to keep things simple and this seems to work out just fine for him.
The expenses involved in maintaining his diet routine are a bit on the high side. Every week, Valliere spends between $250-300 on groceries which is essential as he has to maintain his bulky physique.

In 2012, Valliere suffered from a bad injury when he engaged in an arm wrestling competition with Devon Larratt at a local competition in Ottawa.

On a final note;

He started well, seeing as he placed second at the 2020 Tampa Pro. He also added another victory under his belt in the 2020 New York Pro competition.
