Good choice. Let me know what First Snow is like when you've watched it though - looked interesting.

I'm liking 'My Name is Earl'.

Think we're watching 'Backdraft' tonight.

The first season is funny as hell. Second season is a let down.

I think I'll do The Third Man for now. Orson Welles is pretty much the man. Have you seen Touch of Evil, Rocky?

I have not. To be honest I have seen nothing of the man. It's a disgrace I know.

You don't want to know some of the old, old classics I haven't seen.

Hot Fuzz was the last flick I saw in the cinema. Worth every penny!!! Watch it, watch it now!

Couple of interesting flicks out here at the moment; Half Nelson and Noise. Noise is an Aussie film that (shock horror) actually looks good. Though I'll probably wait for them on rental and just see Spiderman 3 instead :ughnoes:

I own Half Nelson. Great performances all around and overall a pretty interesting character study and meditation on trust relative to social/racial situations and hypocrisy. Definitely worth a look.

Otherwise for an easy cheap thrills watch the Grudge.

I still have to see Casino.

Anyway, I watched The Third Man yesterday and while I enjoyed it very much I was left a little underwhelmed, presumably due to the other films I've watched in the past couple days. The dialogue was sharp and witty but after seeing something like The Rules of the Game by Renoir it's really hard to be as standoutish from a screenplay standpoint. Similarly, the photography isn't nearly as impressive as Fritz Lang's M, which hurts it more due to their similar reliances on atmosphere and suspense. I did enjoy it though and would put it on par with Charade (1963) as far as genre pieces go.

Saw a Japanese film called Zatoichi the other day that was really good.

Actually had characters with depth in an action film.
