Natureboy: I try to wear my Che Guvera T-shirt while doing them. Just my little part to commercialise communism!

Ryeland: Glad you liked it! I'm going to get inspired from time to time so keep checking in. Maybe we can get some PB's happening!

Rocky: Yep just trying to share the struggle to train while working full time, with evening meetings killing my free time. Always appreciate you stopping by!

Eric: Training at the moment has to be a bit dynamic to fit around work. I often have evening meetings that eat into my schedule. So end up burning the candle at both ends with a peridoised program. Oh well :e5dunno:

Cuban presses: take a bar or dumbbells. Raise with pronated grip to the sternum, or until elbows level with shoulders and forearms at 90 degree. Then raise bar in circular motion out from the body and up towards top of head. Once at overhead press position press overhead and reverse motion. SHould feel this in the rear of the shoulders and in the scaps.

Oh yeh and I lifted today. Pretty happy with the clean!! Have to try jerks next session to see if I can get that 100kg overhead as easily as it came to the shoulder.

Usual warmups.
work:
Snatch/Front squat complex (3 reps of first then on final 3 reps of the latter)
50kg
60
70
Clean/Front (ditto)
80kg
90
100
Front
100x5
Single leg SLDL
42x8
42x8
42x8
Bulgarian squat
50x6
50x7

They're like box squats, but you sit down on a Bulgarian. You're welcome.

Nice job on those cleans and SLSLDLs.

Eric:Coming from you that is a huge compliment!! Actually something I've noticed with hammys; higher reps for SLDL style work, lower reps for curls. This seems to work better.

Glex: Thanks Glex. No you don't sit onto the bulgarian, you have to balance him on your shoulder while you squat!! Very hard to do as finding Bulgarians is not easy.

Natureboy and Eric: Bulgarian squats are basically like a lunge, except the back leg has the foot placed on a bench. Requires more balance, and you can feel all the muscles of the leg and hips working!

FF: Yep moved, settled, and working for about 6 weeks. I've gotten chucked in the deep end a bit, meeting landholders, going to evening meetings, field days, etc, plus not really quite understanding what I'm supposed to be doing and what I'm being asked to do (drawing the line). But it's good work, I like the area and we are looking to both help out the environment while improving farming systems :xyxthumbs: Oh and I'm actually getting money!!!!!!!!!!!

Rocky: Ironically the cleans have improved not just from the extra squat strength, but I've got better technique too, while the snatches (the more technical lift) have gotten sloppy. When I was doing the jerks the other week they went up the best they ever have. So it will be interesting next week to actually try with a heavier weight (over BW).

It was a day and a half ago now that I did a short hard session:

Oh...right, sorry :duh:

Looks like a good start to the wave loaded program. Great job on those chins!!!

I really like the sound of those V raises. I'm going to see if Line wants to do some tomorrow.

Yes I have been training.

Yes I have stuff to report.

No I can't be arsed writing down the last week or so worth of training.

Instead:
What does Tim do when not posting on MM?

1) Tim has a very nice girl in his life that has certain needs, not least of which is hugging.

2) Tim has a job that he has managed to do an extra weeks worth of overtime at in the first 2 months of employ.

3) Tim has much science to read. Lots of stuff has been done in agriculture, especially in sustainable practices, that he needs to brush up on.

4) Tim has much science to read. He is coming in at the mid point of a project and has to get up to speed with what has been going on for the past few years.

5) Tim has much science to read. He still has this fucking PhD to finish writing, and the sections he needs to finish all involve 'quoting' what other researchers have found.

6) Tim is a TV junkie. He has to find stuff to have on the TV while he plays guitar.

7) Oh yeh and he lifts weights.

Rocky: Yes. Don't you enjoy special hugs with the missus? It's much better than when they want you to stop watching the footy and do some chores.

Glex: Yep guitar and girl. What more could a man want? I'm trying to offload my Epi 7-string Flying V and my first electric so that I can buy a Smartwood Les Paul Studio (failing that I'll bump up to a Studio Plus that has cooler finishes). As for the girl..... well she wants something sparkly for her finger.

7-string, eh? Last time I tried playing one of those I had only been playing for about a year or two...whoops :49: Good call on the Les Paul of either variety.

My girl wants something shiny too.

Rocky: I just get an image of dozens of kids running around with mud on their hands trying to slap the guitar. Thats why you need a man's room. Sort of like a games room, except the TV is designed for optimal football watching, it has a comfy recliner directly in front of said same, it has your home gym, guitars and amps (the bigger and blacker the better!!), and of course all the music that is designed to raise test levels. This room is strictly off limits to anyone other than men and strippers.

Natureboy: I'm sure Rocky didn't abduct kids from schools to have them annoy him whilst playing guitar.

Serb: Thanks. I try to keep it interesting...... when I actually get a chance.

Glex: Yeh the 7-string really is a teenage malcontents instrument of choice. It screams heavy and depressed. Either that or jazz/thrash virtuoso! I find the extra string easy enough to handle but I just don't use it that much. Being on a V I tend to think it has passed the angry adolescent phase and is not versitile enough.

I like the Smartwood LP, as they are sustainably harvested, and have that nice natural finish, plus I bought my brother a LP and they were the best sounding guitars by far. Though I've read that the modern LP's tend to vary a bit in quality so I have to play them to find one I like, hence the fall back of a Studio plus.

As for the shiny things; I tried to give her a fishing lure and it made her sulk. I guess I'll have to find a months wages to blow on something she won't even wear (she doesn't like jewelery, but wants a ring! Go figure!). Are you going to take her shopping for one, or surprise her?

Todays Session:
Today was acoustic day

Warmup:
A maj pentatonic scale
A min pentatonic scale
E min scale
E maj scale
Jangly open chord changes

Work sets:
Here Comes the Sun - Beatles
Take a Picture - Filter
Random riffing
Outside Woman Blues - Cream (although was done by someone else first...)
Babe I'm Gonna Leave You - Led Zepplin
Tangerine - Led Zepplin
Random noodling
Patience - GnR
Gone - Tea Party

It was a good session, though had to trim my fingernails again so that my fretting hand could play properly. Nothing too complicated in there as I felt mellow. Tomorrow I'll wail on my electric.
