Yeah great work on the snatches. Snatches will def take a lot of energy out of ya. I've never done farmer walks, but I'd like to try them out.

DA: Thanks DA!

Samoan: I really like to snatch before a workout biggrinsanta

Bambam: Even without thick bars these are a great exercise. Just grab about what you can incline bench and go for a walk. If that is too much then you probably have strength imbalances.

After a day of staring at the computer on a weekend, I wasn't really in the mood to lift. But I did anyway, but clearly lacked energy.

Bench
20kg x15
60kg x10
80kg x8
100kg x10
105kg x8 (easy)
110kg x3 (got out of the groove)
110kg x1 (once again didn't feel right so just racked it. Don't want to hurt the shoulder again)

W holds (10sec)
5kg x5
5kg x5
5kg x5

DB row
40kg x8
50kg x8
55kg x8
55kg x8
55kg x6

OH press
50kg x8
55kg x6

Plate curls
40kg x6

Smart move on the bench bud I have learned to rarely use the flat bench, just puts too much pressure on my shoulder when going heavy. Good work bud.

PV: Yeh but I'm still treating my shoulder with kids gloves. It's difficult not to just ram home all the reps.

Lionheart: The big difference I'm trying to make really does require me to listen to my body. I know in the long run I'll benefit.

Samoan: I don't have a lot of benching option at home. INcline has a flat seat so that you slide off once you get over about 110kg, the DB's can't be loaded past about 50kg and are awkward at the best of times. Although I'm working out a way to use more loading on pushups that should be fun.

Had a crappy legs session last night. Felt stiff in one side of my lower back so I cut things short on the single leg SLDL and the box squat. Just didn't feel right for some reason. Probably all the hours in front of the computer.

Front squat
20kg x5
60kg x5
80kg x5
100kg x5
120kg x3
120kg x2
120kg x1
120kg x1

Single leg SLDL
42kg x8
52kg x5
57kg x1 (cut it right there)

SLDL
93kg x10
93kg x10 (just to feel out what was actually sore and do a dynamic stretch)

Box Squat
120kg x5
140kg x5
160kg x1 (just didn't feel right so stopped)

Standing calf raise
160kg x15
160kg x15
160kg x15 (calves are a bit stiff today!!)

That's still a decent weight for front squats Timbo, and especially good for a man of your advanced years.

Skeptic: Yeh just had to pull up when I was ready for some heavy box squats. I think I've been sitting at my desk too much this week, just stiff in the lower back.

El Freako: I got those front squats ATG as well, so I'd max at about 1.5xBW. Nice going for a guy who couldn't walk this time 3 yrs ago.

Samoan: Here's some encouragement; I've added 50kg rack deadlift, 30kg to my deadlift and 20kg to my ATG squats from just working my hammys better.

Dan: I hope that I'll get this thesis done in the next few days and finally get some rest. THen I'll be fresh for once when I'm lifting.

Prizefighter: Thanks for stopping by. I don't have any other setup for farmers walks other than DB's. I've found though that a lot of the standard DB's in gyms suck to use, either they have no knurling on the grips (which make them borderline pointless in my book) they have rubber plates that grab on your clothes, or they are too wide so you have to hold them out from your body more than you need to. My home setup I've made two handles out of some 2.5" thick pipe that attach to my DB's such that they hang at knee height. This means my DB's don't clip my legs with each stride. Ideally I'll knock up something similar to the Ironmind farmers walk bars sometime in the future.

Either way I love farmers walks as a great GPP workout. Second only to sex.

Just finished training out in the backyard. It was a reasonable session except for the dog needing heaps of attention. So every set was interrupted by the dog wanting me to throw the ball. At least that will keep the dog lean.

Chinups (dead hangs)

40kg x5
40kg x3

Thanks for the response, I hate my gyms DBs because the rubber always catches my shorts like you said.
