Miami: cheers dude. I need to get my triceps working so I can lock out a decent bench.

PV: I can smell PB's!!!

Cardio this evening. Hot muggy day, and I think I have a minor bout of gastro (resting HR this evening of 120).

So 25mins on the rower with 10mins of HIIT felt like I had just hiked the Himalayas.

What do you think about the Thick bar?

- I've been considering to buy some fat gripz to get the same effect. Is it worth it?

I just made my own out of metal pipe. I do like thick bars and I actually prefer them for rows. For the cost of zero you can make your own to suit your needs (this assumes you have tools laying around). I made my handles using some rope, a piece of 2.5" galvanised steel pipe (scrounged), a hacksaw and a drill.

The other one was a two part job. It is an old piece of iron or steel water pipe. It was rusty, but rusty in that old heavy duty way (outside corroded, inside solid as a rock) so I sanded it down a bit. I then drilled a hole for a bolt to go through. This bolt was to tie a chain with plates loaded on it. The chain was once again scrounged and attached to a bottom plate so the chain would go through the centre hole but I wouldn't have to tie anything off. The bottom plate was a 2" square piece of iron I scrounged from an old harvester blade. This stuff is rock solid. I cut the end of one chain loop, then drilled two holes to match in the iron (this actually distroyed two drill bits it was that solid) and then welded the chain in place.

Kurt: The goal is stronger Aussies so that we can continue to kick ass :thumbsup2: I think we both need to be pulling 220-230kg in the next year or so.

Anabolicus: I squat this arvo so it might be my next post.

Ben: I did the deads expecting to pull 200kg, but kept it in the tank. If I can pull well before Xmas I'll know that the hammys are all better again (if anything improved).

I think 230 could very well be a possibility :gaysign:

I dont have the skills to make stuff like that :) :)

^^ It is actually quite easy to do. Do a search for some of the homemade equipment how-to's and you'll see what is involved.

Short session this evening. I got to my first work set of squats and just didn't feel right. So just did some other stuff since I was warmed up anyway. I'd say the gastro is still playing with me a bit.

ATG squat
60kg x5
100kg x2x2
120kg x2x2
140kg x1
150kg x1

Split squat
100kg x3
105kg x3
110kg x3
115kg x2 PB I think.

Zercher squat
50kg x12

Pickle: Thanks. I've sucked at squatting for years. I've improved a lot to be able to say I'm mediocre at them.

Xiva: Dead by April, I'll give them a listen on Metal Storm :xyxthumbs:

Anabolicus: I just went back to the program rather than trying to hit 100%. So the volume was back up to +8 sets at >80% so I should see some improvement. I'm still lacking energy. Hopefully the honeymoon will refresh me and get me back where I want to be.

BGL: Cheers big fella.

Miami: Technically I am doing chinups and pullups with more than your bodyweight :D It is the equivilent of me weighing as much as you and adding 10kg to do 3 reps. So what is all that extra muscle actually doing :gaygay: Lol

Deadlift session this evening. Just couldn't get the energy or motivation to pull. 190kg was a grind this week and not the best form so I didn't pull the 2nd set nor the 2 sets at 195kg.

Deadlift
60kg x5
100kg x5
140kg x2
160kg x2
