Bodybuilding is a sport to be reckoned with because of the many years it takes to achieve success. It takes many years to build such an amazing body, and it takes extra consistency and hard work to win competitions, and awards and achieve fame, popularity, and wealth.

The nature of the sport doesn't make it easy for one to achieve massive wealth since you have to overcome many hurdles first to do so.

That's why in this article we'll be discussing the five richest bodybuilders in the world who managed to raise the bar on all these requirements.

Without further ado, let's dive into the list of the most successful bodybuilders, their net worth, and their achievements.

The World's Richest Bodybuilders

At the top of the list is the legendary Arnold Schwarzenegger. Even years after his retirement, he has remained a significant figure in bodybuilding. He owns different bodybuilding gyms and writes about bodybuilding in sports and fitness magazines.

It's quite humorous that he has an almost unpronounceable surname, but that didn't hinder his fame and popularity. Arnold is an Austrian-American bodybuilder, actor, businessman, and politician. He was born on July 30, 1947. He started weight lifting at 15 and won the Mr. Universe title at age 20. He went ahead to win the Mr. Olympia seven times in a row,

In 1980, he retired from his bodybuilding career and went into acting. He was quite successful in his acting career, as he featured in movies that became hits. He appeared as the main actor in movies like Conan the Barbarian, The Terminator, Commando, The Running Man, and many others.
He served as the governor of California from 2003 to 2011.

Arnold was nicknamed The Austrian Oak during his bodybuilding days, Arnie during his acting days, and The Governator during his time as governor of California.

He was executive editor of fitness magazines in California, and he earned quite a lot per year from that position.

Since Arnold started as a bodybuilder before branching out to other careers, it is safe to say that he didn't amass his wealth from just bodybuilding alone. However, his net worth makes him the richest bodybuilder in the world. Arnold has a net worth of a whopping $300 million.

The Austrian Oak remains the richest bodybuilder in the world plus he has also made significant investments in real estate. There's every possibility that Arnold will hold the position of the world's richest bodybuilder for a very long time.

  • Rich Gaspari

The next on the list is Richard Gaspari, an American bodybuilder. He is called different nicknames by his fans; they call him The Itch, The Dragon Slayer, and Rich Gaspari.

As a member of the IFBB, he has participated in many competitions, won many awards, and upheld many titles. He participated actively in bodybuilding from 1985 before his retirement in 1996. Gaspari ran his own nutrition company after his retirement.

Richard Gaspari was born on 16th May 1963 in New Jersey. Rich has always been passionate about bodybuilding. During his childhood, he would leave home to Rutgers University and sneak into the weight room; there he would work out to his satisfaction. He later went on to secure a degree from the University.

Gaspari qualified for professional bodybuilding in 1984 before his starting fully in 1985. In 1983, he worked with NPC Junior National where he came out as the winner. He later went on to join the IFBB night of champions in 1985; he worked out there for a long time till his retirement.

During his time with the IFBB, he won many competitions, won many titles, and received many awards. In 1986, he placed second in Mr. Olympia and the two years following. He was constantly defeated by Lee Haney. At age 21, the title, Mr. Universe was conferred on him and this made him the youngest person to receive the title.

As a bodybuilder, Richard Gaspar was inspired by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Lou Ferringo. He is an accomplished bodybuilder and even after he retired, he kept on receiving awards and rewards. After his retirement, he focused on his supplement company.

With a net worth of $100 million, he remains the second world's richest bodybuilder. He's able to achieve this much wealth from his numerous wins and awards. Also, his supplement nutrition company rakes in sales of $85 million per year.

Jay Cutler is undoubtedly one of the most accomplished modern bodybuilders. Though he wasn't always keen on bodybuilding, in the beginning, he, however, managed to raise the bar on all expectations.

Jason Isaac otherwise Known as Jay Cutler was born on the 3rd of August 1973. As a child, he loved to work with his brother who owns a construction company. He was soon noticed for his agility and strength. Working on construction projects with his brother played a significant role in helping to build his body frame.

Jay Cutler was advised to go into bodybuilding by his trainer, Marcos Rodriguez. Since he was already accustomed to lifting heavy weights, it wasn't long before he established himself in the bodybuilding world. He made his first debut at the Gold's Gym Worcester Bodybuilding Championships competition, he placed second.
He then advanced to much bigger competitions like Mr. Olympia. In the Mr. Olympia competition, he won the competition four times in a row (2006,2007,2009,2010).

He also competed in the IFBB Night Of Champions(2000), Arnold Classic, and Ironman Pro invitational among others.

He participated in other competitions before he finally retired. Upon his retirement, he channeled his energy and resources into his Nutrition company, Cutler Nutrition. His company is a major provider of bodybuilding supplements.

The four-time Mr. Olympia Champion has been able to pack many titles and awards under his belt. This caused an enormous boost in his finances. Coupled with the progress of his Nutritional company, he has been able to amass enough wealth that makes him the third richest bodybuilder in the world. Cutler's net worth is estimated to be $30 million.

On the fourth position of the world's richest bodybuilders is the legendary Ronnie Coleman. He is regarded as one of the significant figures in bodybuilding. Over the years, after a series of wins, failures, and successes, he has managed to build a name and wealth for himself.
Ronnie Dean Coleman was born on the 13th of May, 1964. He graduated from Grambling State University in 1984 where he played for the school's football team as a middle linebacker.

He started his bodybuilding career professionally when he came in 1994. He participated in Mr. Olympia in 1994 where he placed 15th, placed 10th in 1995, placed 6th in 1996, and 0th in 1997.

Coupled with his achievements as Mr. Olympia, he has also won many titles in the IFBB competitions.
He also received the Texas Navy Admiral certificate award in 2001.

After his retirement, as with his predecessors, he launched his own nutritional company, Ronnie Coleman's signature series. His company provides nutritional supplements for bodybuilders and sports athletes.

For the 8 times in a row, Mr. Olympia Champion sits comfortably as the fourth richest bodybuilder in the world. Ronnie Coleman is worth an estimated amount of $10 million.

He has won many titles, awards, and rewards from all the competitions he has participated in over the years. He has earned a considerable amount of wealth from his bodybuilding career and additional wealth from his Nutritional company.

  • Gary Strydom

The fifth richest bodybuilder on my list is Gary Strydom. He was born in 1960 in Durban, South Africa.

He was a popular bodybuilder in the 1980s and 90s, however, he took a long break from bodybuilding until his last competition in 2006.

He's regarded as one of the most notable American bodybuilders. He is more famous for being the only bodybuilder to win a championship title under Vince McMahon, now disbanded by the World Bodybuilding Federation.

After the WBF disbanded, Gary took a break from bodybuilding.
However, before this, Gary already had under his belt four IFBB titles.

With not much information about him, there's no record of him owning any nutritional company. There's every possibility that he made all his wealth from bodybuilding.

Since that's the case, it's fair that he made it as far as the fifth world's richest bodybuilder. Gary has an estimated net worth of $8 million.

Without the information on any additional source of wealth, it is safe to say that Gary Strydom is an accomplished bodybuilder and a wealthy one at that.

Gary Strydom

Summary

The bodybuilders mentioned in this list are all accomplished and successful people that have managed to carve a name for themselves in their niche.

Although the majority of them have an additional source of income, they all started as bodybuilders.

Also, it's evident that after retirement, more often than not, most of them launch their own nutritional company to provide supplements for athletes and other bodybuilders.

This business has proven to be lucrative, but that amount of sales can only be pulled in by accomplished and successful bodybuilders like these.
