Shawn's back is good. His conditioning was good, but he was too small and his back lacked the width and thickness that the other guys have on the list.

HIs conditioning was only "good"???

His separation, SIMMETRY and conditioning was unreal. He MUST be in the top 10, IMHO.

Take a look at 1993 and 1994 Mr Olympias... he was just unreal.

That list is pretty much bullshit. The list needs some reorganization at least.

I thought Levrone's back was worthy of the list if some of the other guys like Atwood are on there.

i think haney is seeded to high. I think his waist gives him the illusion of having a better back then he really has but he should def be top 10.

Thats the whole point about bodybuilding. EVERYTHING is an illusion pal.

Agreed, this list is total BS. Many on there should not be there, and they missed many that should have made the list. And the fact hat Cutler is above Victor or even on the list is just retarded.

Personally, I think that Ronnie is First and that is fair, he displayed details and volume in his back, Dorian was excellent out of this world but then Ronnie came into scene and what a nice monster, 2003 back is really impressive. I think that if Joel Stubbs can increase his biceps, legs and calves he will create one of the most beautiful bodies, and of course his back will be the best ever. Look:

Pretty good list I believe, Ronny and Dorian definately deserve top billing and it was good to see the little man Franco getting a mention, he was nearly as wide as he was tall.

Disappointed that Arnie didn't get a mention in the lower ranks...

The best thing about this list is that they didn't put Arnold on it. Props for that :2:

I agree, his back was not his best body part and it is not by far one of the top 20 ever. It's nice to see that the extremely pro Arnold slanted Flex magazine recognized this too. Don't get me wrong I am a huge Arnold fan but I can admit this.

Ok, let's see...

1) Ronnie Coleman - Yes, this is the right spot for Ronnie, no doubt.
2) Dorian Yates - 2nd...well, I'm not sure but top 6 of course.
3) Joel Stubbs - Ok, this is only about best back so this might be his placing. Maybe few steps lower.
4) Lee Haney - Top 6, not sure if it's 4th...
5) Franco Columbo - All time 5th best back? No way in hell.
6) Jay Cutler - Cutler at 6th, LOL. Top 10 maybe.
7) Jean-Pierre Fux - Maybe.
8) Samir Banout - Ok, maybe top 10 material.
9) Michael Francois - Umh, Francois ahead of Victor, let me laugh.
10) Victor Martinez - At least four steps higher.
11) Mohammed Benaziza - Nope, lower.
12) Robby Robinson - Robby's place is somewhere around here.
13) Flex Wheeler - Higher please even though Flex was lacking width but Flex at his prime would kill Francois, Benaziza and Robinson to name a few.
14) Art Atwood - Why is he in this list? BS.
15) Orville Burke - Wide, nothing else.
16) Sergio Oliva - Sergio could be in the list of "the 20 best of all time" but this list is not for him.
17) Tony Pearson - Strange...did he have a good back?
18) Thierry Pastel - He could be few steps higher.
19) Melvin Anthony - This might actually be Melvin's place.
20) Albert Beckles - Ok, this is about the right placing for him.

Just my opinion. You just can't make a list which would keep everybody satisfied.

You're not sure about yates being at #2? He has the best back after Ronnie's.
yates7olympia1993-1.jpg

Haney's back was insane. He should be top 3. They placed him 4th, so I will not argue.
sphan91-1.jpg

Samir should be at #5. Placing him below Columbo is a total joke.
12-1.jpg

I think Benaziza deserves #11. After all, he beat Yates with a back looking like this.
mohammedbenaziza55gt-1.jpg

Burke had a great BDB as well.
OrvilleBurkeNOC1-1.jpg

I think Sergio deserves #16.
