Watched Children of Men and Little Miss Sunshine. Children of Men was good but not quite as good as all the hype suggested. Solid story and the depiction of Britain was well done, and I liked the fact that they didn't over-dramatise the obvious emotional points unnecessarily. Glad I watched it though.

Little Miss Sunshine was great. Really good film. From a pretty slight premise it had characters and heart that just made you want to like it from the start. Definately worth watching.

Got my Special Edition of The Departed through the post last night too - watching that tonight finally!

Yeah, I've been meaning to for a while. Waiting for a Special Edition boxset with the trilogy to come out.

I saw Grindhouse last night. Pretty freakin' sweet. Planet Terror was crazy, but had a pretty awesome story. Death Proof was probably my favorite out of the two.... pretty good acting, but the chicks in that movie kept TALKING and TALKING... FOREVER they talked, but they were talking about what they were going to do that was leading up to the movie, so I paid attention :49:

Pretty awesome set of movies, I recommend it.

Rocky, how in the world was LMS better than CoM? It's not even a close comparison.

Here's what I've seen in the past two days...

Grindhouse - Good, but didn't nearly live up to the hype (***)

The Lookout - Mediocre in just about every way. Levitt should go back to making more films like Brick which appreciate subtlety and creativity (**1/2).

Also, I got the Criterion Collection of Brazil for my birthday from my brother and I bought myself The Maltese Falcon SE.

My girlfriend and I wanted to go see a movie. She wanted to see The Reaping, :uhoh2: , so I suggested not. She didn't want to go see Grindhouse because it was over three hours long, so we settled on The Last Mimsy :gaygay:

The best part of the film was by far the little girl who played Emma (no, I don't mean it like that ). She was really very good.

I don't know what kind of formulae Line uses for his four-star rating system, but I'd give it a (**) for a few reasons.

Not that anyone cares :49:

Not a close comparison in what sense? Wildly diverse films from each other. Although LMS had a rather slight premise, in all honesty CoM wasn't the most radical of ideas it was just the way it was handled was really good. While CoM may have been the more worthy film as far as entertainment goes I though LMS was easily it's equal if not cerebrally so.

Good choice on the Criterion cut for Brazil it's the untainted version which the studio didn't fuck about with.

Bit disappointed to hear that Grindhouse didn't live up to the hype - but then the way everyone has been banging on about it I suppose it was never going to!

Well the leading man usually gets the most camera time.

I didn't mind it, was a pretty decent action film.

Er. No.

Ben Affleck
Ryan Reynolds
Ray Liotta among others

I wanna see it.
