well, i dont train mentzer style, i do think a complex bodypart like back needs more than one exercise in order to develop it fully. but hey, i agree, i went alittle overboard this session, next time ill probably loose one of the pulldowns. i must add however, that it was all done in 45 minutes:xyxthumbs:

Sounds good man! if all was done in 45 minutes then im sure it was high intensity! keep up the good work!

offc its high intensity:disgust: when i only do one set of an exercise u can be damn sure i do that set to absolute failure and beyond:xyxthumbs: the only exception is deadlifts, where i hold back alittle, typically stopping 1-2 reps short of failure, thats for safety reasons, because its so easy to compromise form and injure urself when fatigue starts setting in during heavy deads.

haha:D ye lance was actually the one who finally convinced me to try it out. i was contemplating it for a long time, but was always nervous about taking the step, because i feared that reducing the volume would result in me loosing muscle. i discovered that the opposite was the case, i feel fuller and bigger than ever. the road towards HIT started already when i started max ot though, that signified a massive reduction in volume from my previous 20-30 sets workouts. and ive now reached the point where i feel i can infact generate enough intensity into one set in order to stimulate growth.

haha, u bet we will try to convert u to the true musclebuilding utopia:49: haha jk i for once havent been doing it for too long, i just like the way it feels, and i like how my workouts goes, ive always enjoyed pushing myself, and thats what HIT is all about. first u try for one more rep than ur last workout, then u follow up with intensity techniques until the weight barely moves.

im not gonna make any bogus claims about HIT being the one and only way, but i would reccomend everyone who hasnt tried it to give it a try. here is my training split atm, if ure interested

day 1: chest and bicep
day 2: Legs and calves
day 3: rest
day 4: shoulders and tris
day 5: back and traps

weekends off, and then repeat.

Too late tkD, I'm already here :keke: Give HIT a shot buddy :)

Joakim, your back workout looked sweet, very similar to mine. Actually your split is exactly the same as mine. I'm glad your doing the real HIT going past failure and so fourth. Thats exactly what I do as you know, 8-10 reps to failure then beyond with intesnsity techniques. Have you got Dorians book yet? I would advise you to purchase that, it's one of the best bodybuilding books for motivation and helping with diets and mental attitude. Glad your doing so well buddy :)

another HIT fellow! welcome

I have already noticed that you know that HIT is the bOMB! but still want to incentivate you to continue, I have been training HIT for almost 6 months now, I i've put more muscle in this period of time, than when I trained volume for 2 years. And the strengh.... wow... it's of the hook!

keep it up!

thanks bro, im going with the same split almost as yates himself used in blood and guts, only deviation is i do traps with back instead of delts, it just feels more natural for me to do traps after back. i havent gotten hold of dorians book yet, but i will get it soon enough i can promise u that bro:) btw whats ur favourite intensity technique? i myself love forced reps, but without a reliable training partner its hard to do those. i guess i just have to improvise for myself.

My favourite is forced reps because there one of the best ways to induce hypertrophy. One of my other favourites is negatives, jesus they hurt badly. The worst negatives I have ever done is when I was really into Mike Mentzer and I was using forced negatives on practically anything, even flat bb presses lol and I wouldn't recomend it to people but that really was a brutal technique, esp on the bench press :ugh: it was fun though :coolguy:

I hear you though about not always having a training partner and therefore you're just going to have to do your best with what you've got. When I'm on my own, I often use rest/pause, drop sets and partials.

When you do forced reps, do you incorporate any other intensity techniques into that set or do you just use one technique and thats it? I like to use a combination of techniques.

oh ye i defo incorporate many intensity techniques into a set. after my partner is done helping me crank out another rep or two, i usually make him assist me with negatives and/or some static holds. if im alone, i usually stick with rest pause and drop sets. personally i love drop sets though, nothing burns better:D

ok todays training, chest and bis:D

Flat BB bench press

3 warmup sets

100kgx9+2 (rest pause)

incline smith machine press:

95kgx7+1 (rest pause)

seated machine press:

1 warm up set

80kgx8... at the end of the set i held the contractive position for about 10 seconds, before doing a 15 second negative at the end.

machine flyes:

1 warmup set

80kgx9 dropset--->50kgx7+ static hold+ 15 second negative at the end

standing BB curls:

1 warmup set

50kgx10+2 (rest pause)

standing alternating db curls:

22,5kgx9 dropset--->15kgx6

db spider curls:

15kgx10 dropset--->10kgx7

best bicep pump ive ever had i think;)

That session looked intense Bulky. I may not be a fan of HIT but I can appreciate the pain that you go through for it.

How are your deads faring these days may I ask? I enjoyed the little competition we were having.

bout time i started updating this thing again. as u probably know im in the army right now. i had to take a whole month off training while in bootcamp, it was just too strenous and the days were too long to be able to train properly. right now though the days are shorter and ive gotten back into the groove of things again. been training consistently for the last 3 weeks and have gotten back up to where i were before the off period, and have even been able to improve in some aspects. still training HIT:2:

today i did delts, traps and triceps.

DELTS:

Seated db shoulder press:

2 warmup sets

37,5kg'sx8+2 forced reps

standing db front raises:

1 warmup set

17,5kg'sx9 dropset-->12,5kgx6

standing db side lateral raises:

1 warmup set

25kg'sx7 dropset-->17,5kgx9

TRAPS:

bb upright rows:

1 warmup set

60kgx8

bb shrugs:

1 warmup set

160kgx12 dropset-->130kgx13

TRICEPS:

straight bar pushdowns:

2 warmup sets

45kgx10 rest pause-->45kgx3

seated ez bar extensions:

1 warmup set

40kgx9

reverse one armed cable pushdowns:

15kgx10 dropset-->10kgx6

paralell bar dips:

bodyweightx32 reps

did 20 minutes of cardio on the the treadmill. highest incline, and fast pace walking:thumbsup2:

tomorrow is back, rear delts and abs. take care.
