Turkish: I like running :hsughr: The running around here sucks, though :disgust: I only have one option from our apartment, otherwise I have to drive to go running. So in that respect, it is getting a little boring.

see to me any kind of running is hell and absoluetely:e5dunno: boring.....so i really can't relate

BigE: Yes, proximity is the biggest issue :hsughr:

CJU: Thanks, I'm not a sprinter so I'm happy with it.

Hypo: Uh, yes, I will.

Turkish: Yeah, we runners are all a little crazy (read stupid).

I just put in a quick training session and ran for 28 minutes. I stumbled across a back way out of our apartment complex into suburbia, so my running route problem is solved :xyxthumbs: Sorry I've been neglecting the logs for a few days, I'll make my rounds once I come back from swimming with Sara :hsughr:

You don't want to see pictures of my runner's trot :uhoh2:

Running: 1 hr 12 min
Yeah...didn't really mean to be gone for that long. I stopped the clock a few times in the first 15 minutes to do a few sets of pullups on playground equipment, and also once at the 33 minute mark to ask for directions :49: My sense of direction was telling me yes, but my eyes were telling me no. Some lady confirmed that my sense of direction was right, however, and I made it back to where I needed to be.

I think I'm gonna go swim a bit to cool down.

:49: Yeah...I generally try to keep it under an hour. Every once in a while I go for an hour plus, maybe up to an hour and twenty, but I definitely didn't want to yesterday because I had to work today. I just got done and my hamstrings are really sore. I might do some upper body and swimming when the girlfriend gets home, though.

His mind slid away into the labyrinthine world of doublethink. To know and not to know, to be conscious of complete truthfulness while telling carefully contructed lies, to hold simultaneously two opinions which cancelled out, knowing them to be contradictory and believing in both of them, to use logic against logic, to repudiate morality while laying claim to it...

....to forget, whatever it was necessary to forget, then to draw it back into memory again at the moment when it was needed, and then promptly forget it again, and above all, to apply the same process to the process itself.

consciously to induce unconsciousness, and then, once again, to become unconscious of the act of hypnosis you had just performed.

Even to understand the word "doublethink" involved the use of doublethink.

To answer your questions, when I'm running for 50 minutes or more, I'm probably not going much faster than 7 miles an hour (roughly 8.5-9 minute miles), or about 11 km/hr (5.5 min kilometers) for Bulkboy. I'd have to go check because I have no idea how many miles I ran yesterday. As I get more in shape I can hold sub 8 minute miles for over 50 minutes, though.

When I run 25-35 minutes I'm probably doing about 7-8 minute miles...40-50 minutes maybe lke 7.5-8.5. I don't really pay much attention to it anymore except for the occasional 1.5 mile run on the track. I can run that at less than 6.5 minutes per mile even now.

I used to do 5ks (3.1 miles) in under 19.5 minutes, which is like 6:20 miles, and the fastest I ever did the mile and half run was 8:47, which was sub 6 minute miles.

I hate running, and I am impressed with those times!!

I only run when it's part of sport, so to see someone who is not only dedicated enough to lift and run, but also do some decent times is great :2:

Turkish: That's right :zangief:

Tim: Thanks Tim, that's a really great compliment :hsughr:

So I'm working a lot more now: Wed 8am-3pm, Thurs 3pm-11pm, Fri 8am-3pm, Sat 8am-3pm. My legs are just about shot; I have no idea how I'm going to keep up with the lifting, let alone the running. I'm not going to let either slip if I can help it, though.

Alright, as promised, here's a log entry with weights. It's a better gym than the one here at the apartment, but it's still not great (no squat rack, one bench press, one adjustable bench, only about six 45 pound plates in the whole facility). I can tell one of the managers at Denny's lifts, so I'm going to ask him where he goes which might point me towards a good gym and will certainly earn me some brownie points :D

6-14-07

Smith Squat

135 lbs x 12
225 lbs x 8
225 lbs x 8
135 lbs x 20

Smith Deadlifts
225 lbs x 10
275 lbs x 4...didn't like how this felt at all so I quit and moved on.

BB Lunges
100 lbs x 10
100 lbs x 10

Leg Press Calf Raises
410 lbs x 10
450 lbs x 10
490 lbs x 8...whole stack...no big deal

Pullups
BW x 12
BW + 25 lbs x 5
BW x 8
BW x 5

Flat DB Press
70 lbs x 10
85 lbs x 8
100 lbs x 4...lost a lot
80 lbs x 6

DB Shoulder Press
50 lbs x 10
60 lbs x 8
60 lbs x 5

V-Raises
25 lbs x 10
25 lbs x 10
25 lbs x 10

Dips
BW x 25
BW + 45 lbs x 12
BW + 90 lbs x 3...lost a lot here, too

Preacher Curls
75 lbs x 12
95 lbs x 8
95 lbs x 4...DROP 75 lbs x 4

Cable Rope Push Downs (15 settings)
8 lbs x 15
11 lbs x 8
11 lbs x 8

Abs

Aftermath:

Finished up in just under an hour and a half. Not bad; I knew I was going to lose a lot of strength with the running and not being in a true gym for weeks, so I'll take it. I'm pretty happy with 12 pullups; that matches my PB. Next time I'm going to do a few warm up sets of 3 and see if I can pump out 15. I'm sure me getting better at pullups has everything to do with me weighing under 200 pounds now :49:

Alright, time for the US Open and maybe some swimming later. By the way, I'm like 25 minutes from Oakmont but I can't afford the $100 bucks or whatever to get in :tear: I've got other shit to do, too, though. I'll make it out to a tournament sometime.

Yeah that would have been my guess :uhoh2:

Good work. Hell of a big session and all in an hour and a half is good going. Respectable reps and numbers although deadlifts on the smith :uhoh2:

Bulkboy: Yeah, I was definitely happy with the pullups.

Pumba: It's from 1984 :49:

Turkish: That was the gym at Westinghouse. I need a new one :disgust:

Beno: Yeah, I'm gonna try to keep training!

Rocky: Yeah...it's not my first choice either...but they only had one barbell and no real place to do deadlifts. I know Flex used to do deadlifts or rack pulls on the smith, so that's what I was attempting, but I couldn't remember exactly how they went/they suck so I quit.

Hopefully I'll put in something today, fellas, I haven't been doing squat but eating too much and working.
