What you guys need to understand is this is a fragile subject for someone like Ironslave or myself. When you make a claim like "what we've done in Iraq since March 2003 was the right thing," we feel like it insults the lives of 1,000,000 Iraqis.

These people arn't terrorists, they are people pissed off that we invaded their country and are forcing them to live the way we want them to. Very few of the soldiers over there even speak arabic, you just have to picture in your head what it would be like if it happend to us.

I've told Ironslave several times already that his name-calling and swearing in debates does not help making his case, he knows this. I don't think he can hold it back in a fragile subject like this. He's apologized several times, and I think he did in this thread too.

this is a fragile subject for me aswell, basically saying all my brothers in arms died for no cause and that what we did was wrong when we werem order to do our job, im gonna snap too. he insulted me and the orders i was given and the job i had done, when i said nothing.

What we did was and is wrong, but it's not the soldiers' faults. If I felt this war was for a good cause, I'd be over there fighting right now.

I can see why people would think it's a "slap in the face" of all those who lost their lives to leave Iraq, but I don't look at it that way. I look at it as a way of preventing more mothers and fathers from losing children. And also, the loss of life for what? for what? Greed? Money? Resources?

Not worth it, bring the troops home.

i totally agree flex, im trying to find a way to stay and not get deployed but i need the military right now so they can put me through law school, but i wanna stay home and start my family i dont wanna go over there again fuck that, im going into the army now either as a mortuary affairs specialist or military police, trying to stay safe man, either way this war isnt gonna last much longer i highly doubt it

I kinda disagree with this. The surge won't last much longer, i'll give you that. But we will permanently have a significant amount of troops stationed in Iraq for at least the next 50 years. Just look at South Korea, we've had 30,000 troops there for the last 50 years.

These types of wars don't end, there will always be violence. Instead, what will happen is some soldiers will move into Afghanistan, and we'll start hearing less and less about Iraq in the news.

I apologize for that, but like Flex said, 1,000,000 people have died in a war based on lies. I truthfully cannot think of one reason at all why anyone can still support this "war".

Sorry, but I still maintain that as horrible as it was, what did American's die for in Iraq? Their freedom? That's such a joke. Look at history, it happens time and time again, America claims that they are fighting for "the cause of freedom" in other countries, but they do much much more damage than good. It is just irrefutable that America has killed at least hundreds of thousands of civilians in Iraq. Did they mean to? No. But does it matter to someone who just had his family killed? No.

Again, refer to the video where America blew up a mosque, and the troops were spouting "woo hoo, bad ass". All it takes is a few bad apples like this, which creates hatred for all of America.
