Went in today for a heavy upper session and decided to switch things up. I love the upper body lower body split but I think I am progressing as such that I may need a little more stimulation per session for some body parts. I did a chest and bi workout today.
Bench press: 135x10, 185x10, 225x8, 245x6, 275x4, 275x4, 245x6 Incline bench smith: 225x10, 185x12, 185x12, 185x10 DB fly: 55x13, 55x12, 50x12 EZ curl close grip: 120x8, 120x8, 110x9, 110x9 Incline db curl: 35x12, 30x12, 27.5x12, 25x12
Awesome pump in the chest. Felt pretty good about the session. Smith presses were bottom half reps to put total stimulation on chest and were performed very slow and controlled.
Sumo's are definately worth persevering with - I love em since I started doing them after my back problems.
Both sessions look real good. Nice heavy lifts.
Rage; Appreciate it man!
Philo: I'm not quite sure yet. I just feel that my upper body hasnt been progressing too much on the ub/lb split. and while I think it is a great split, I have been training for almost 3 years now religiously with only short breaks to deload so maybe it is a better road for me. I am all about trying new things to see what works. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.
Mike: Thanks bro! I'm all about the classic workouts!
Iron: Appreciate the support!
Rocky: yeah they are a great exercise and i am glad I finallly tried them!
Alright fellas, I apologize for the recent lack of activity here. A new job has me pretty busy but it is at a gym that is much nicer than what I was working out at so that is a plus! I have a light leg day and a back/shoulder/tri day to post.
light leg:
Hack squat: 4 platesx25, 5 platesx20, 6 platesx15 OUCHHHHHHHHHH! Stiff leg deads: 185x15, 205x12, 205x12 Unilateral leg press: 4 platesx25, 5 platesx20, 6 platesx15 Lying leg curls: 190x15, 190x15, 190x15 Donkey calf raises: stack x 20 x 5 (wasnt sure about weight on this)
Back/shoulders/tris
Bent over rows: 135x10, 225x10, 275x10, 315x8, 315x8, 335x5 Wide grip chins: bwx10, bwx10, bwx10, bwx10 (didnt have a dip belt ) Seated barbell press: 225x5, 225x5, 205x6, 205x6 Hammer strenght row: 4 platesx13, 4 platesx13 Hammer strenght pull down: 6 platesx13, 6 platesx13, 6 platesx12 Close grip bench: 205x7, 205x6, 205x6, 205x6 Skull crusher: 90x14, 90x13, 90x12
I did a lot of different exercises here but I got it all done in less than an hour and it felt pretty good. I am still having difficulty deciding exactly what to do for my routine but I figure as long as I am lifting smart and heavy, results will follow! Any input is appreciated as always!
6 plates on a LIGHT leg damn?? Damn son! I bet those legs are all kinda sad! You better be pushin those hams borther cuz I'm catchin up! I think the push pull work outs are smart every time i tried to do like a chest tri or back bi i was dead half way throu, switching up what muscle group you're working you can get more heavy ass weights up!
As always - great weight for a light day for all those reps. Glad the new gym is better and it shows in you being able to get the sessions done quick and keeping the intensity up!
Alright fellow brothers of iron, i have another day of training in the bag to share with you. I had intended on doing a leg day today but didnt have a belt to use so I did chest and bis and felt i had a pretty productive workout.
I dont know that this split works better than the ub/lb that I was doing but I always encourage and support variety for best results and that is what i am trying to accomplish here. Had an awesome pump today!
No belt is not a good reason to skip a LB session. Belts suck anyway except for pb attempts.
Nice Pb on the BP. The more experience you have to more I think a regular split could work. So changing to a split could be a good idea not only for the change but it might give you an extra boost to carry on. You could at least give it a try for a few weeks. Evaluate your training after that and make adjustment if needed.
