If you're training for size, why are the reps so low?

yes I am training for size.

You suggest I increase the reps more often, 8-12 yes?

I think it's fine to get sets where you're in the 4-6 range, but I think you would benefit if you keep them in the 8-12 range.

Your training reminds me a lot of mine a few years back. I made the mistake of too many sets in the 4-6 range, then ended up plateau'ing in size and strength.

Not saying you're making a mistake, but I was curious if you were planning on training this way permanently.

Great job tweak...just make sure you don't sacrifice form for weight because if you are doing 275 for 5 bent over shoulder shrugs (not saying that you are this is just a cautionary side note) it is as good as doing 175 with full rangle of motion. Great job though keep it up

Tunen - I've put on a considerable amount of mass, BUT, you're not completely wrong here. I personally just don't care right now. I plan on getting up to 240lbs by August 2010, then dieting down. Whatever fat I put on oh well.

Dang...my gym only goes up to 110 dumbells :tear:

So, I was only doing 110's for 15 today. Tweak has me beat :)

lol, that doesn't mean you can't do much more than myself

There's a gym around here that caters to powerlifters and has dbs up to 200lbs, I really want to check it out but don't want to feel like a pussy in there when I realize I'm the smallest and weakest one in there.

I've still yet to call them, I've really been meaning to, before I go out to sea for a few months I want to workout there at least once to see how much I can row.

My back has always been my strongest bodypart. Before I did those db rows I did 365 pounds on bb rows (full ROM) for 5 reps. Then, 8 plates on t-bar rows.

So, using the 110's for dumbell rows is almost a joke. I'd love to have 200 lb dumbells in our gym. Maybe you should wait till you reach 240 lbs to head in there. :D
